Ugh, not Lock. He has some tools, but he shouldn't be starting for anyone.

There really aren't any good replacements in free agency, but if for some reason they reached an impasse with Geno and HAD to sign someone, Fields, Garoppolo, Mason Rudolph, maybe Mariota are all guys I'd take before Lock. Mac Jones ended the year impressively, but I don't trust him. Flacco is ancient but out there, Cooper Rush looks terrible most of the time but somehow seems to win. Trey Lance clicking with us would be the most hysterical thing ever; not that I'd put ANY hopes on him.

Makes you wonder.

Not really a comparison because Wilson wanted to get paid and Denver did that. If he’d stayed here he’d be making a lot more over the years than Geno you can count on that.

Taking money from the future needs to be justified on a case by case basis. Would we be better off this year if we hadn't borrowed 2025 money to fund a 2024 campaign where we missed the playoffs anyway? That seems pretty obvious.

Nwosu, Fant, and Jones alone combined for 26m cap in 2024 and 60m cap in 2025. Without those three contracts we wouldn't have needed to restructure other contracts in 2024 and our 2025 cap would look pretty good instead of depressing.

It doesnt make any sense to lose the best qb you can reasonably find when you have a roster that is itherwise competitive now.
Saving dollars and losing games with the talens we have currently so we can save a few dollars is only winning on the cap spread sheet.

They will extend Geno to lower his hit.

I can see them trading DK for sure. He hasnt functioned at a top flight number one level. That said, they may give him another shot given how poor the offense was overall under Grubb.

Good points, Keas. Can def. see them shipping DK off for the right price, but with a different OC that actually knows how to use him? Def. could work out. Just can't do it at his current cap # if they want to build in the trenches, imo.
