This likely means even more running plays and fumbles. Ought to make it interesting.

Plus announcers talking about how we're all barnacle laden sea captains who live in a constant squall with our Gordon fish sticks hats and spite. Yes it rains, it's been sunny for months, but you're not from here so it rained, so you could say it rains a lot, it's the way the universe is structured, is what it is.

I'm from here it rains a lot, or should I say frequently, not a massive amount of precipitation statistically but the weather sucks pretty much 9 months out of the year in western wa.

You would think that it would be to the Seahawks' advantage to play in the rain, but it doesn't work out that way. As discussed here before, Russell Wilson was inexplicably bad in the rain, with a 61% completion rate. You think of those QBs with big hands having an advantage in the rain.

I hope Sam Darnold is good in the rain, but he grew up in southern California, and had his best season playing in a dome.

Bummer. I was hoping for decent weather to see a fair analysis on the players. It's crappy here in Astoria too. Atmospheric River parking in the region the next 24 hours or so. July and August has pretty much sucked this year (more clouds and rain than usual for this time of year).

Wait, what? I had no idea that Astoria had such drastically different weather than the overwhelming majority of Western Washington. June, July, and August have been almost entirely hot, dry, and sunny. My lawn has been completely browned out for well over a month, and I live in the foothills of the Cascades where we get more than double the average annual rainfall of Seattle.

I'm actually pretty stoked about the weather today just to get a very short reprieve from nothing but hot and dry for the past few months. Sucks that it's happening the one day the starters are going to play, but we badly need this rain around here.

Yeah I am probably overstating it because we too have been watering our lawn a lot this Summer but it definitely has been cloudier than normal down here.

As a season ticket holder of 20+ years, I'll tell you....it is kind of remarkable how FEW really rainy days we have had in that period... and I would know as we sit in the Hawks Nest
I lived in Florida for nearly 20 years and I would always hear, "I could never live in Washington, it rains WAY too much". Well, first of all Karen, I lived on the best side of the state which is literally a desert. Secondly, and I'd say this from the cheap seats, IT RAINS MORE IN FLORIDA THAN IT DOES IN WESTERN WASHINGTON. JFC, I will never not be irritated by the rest of the country assuming that every inch of Washington is rainy and that it always rains here.

I was stationed in Pensacola, which is southern Alabama, can confirm, simple folk livin simply aint got no time for the pnw. Like they wouldn't know what to do without the racism/hot armpit funk in the air. It was otherwise beautiful and I gained 15 pounds and would live there if paid enough

I went through flight training in Pensacola, 1997. Then went back and lived there after the service from 2007-2012 out in Perdido Key (West Pensacola). Overall, I loved it there too, and the South in general.

Yeah, most people outside of the PNW just write us off as South Alaska and every opinion they have is 5th hand and all based on idiotic assumptions.

I lived in New York and New Jersey and every time after I would say I was from Seattle all anyone would say is "It rains a lot there!"

I always responded: "Not as much as it rains HERE!"

Even though parts of Florida gets about 20 more inches of rain annually on average than western Washington, it seems like Washington gets more. I've lived in both places. The reason is because in Washington, it rains slow, steady, for hours and hours and hours. In Florida, it friggin' DUMPS on you like a bathtub faucet (and therein is the extra 20 inches per year compared to western WA), but for brief periods, and then it quickly dries out again, making the state far sunnier overall than Washington despite 20 more inches annually in comparison.

Given how the Chiefs are football royalty and we lean more toward the ranks of the peasantry, do you think we should show them a proper degree of deference and humility when they're in our presence tonight? I was thinking it would be nice of us to give them a round of ovation when they took the field before the game. It would also be nice to see signs like "wish we had you" to Mahomes, and "Taylor Swift in red makes me melt". Maybe we should have passed out red and yellow arm bands to show our support and appreciation for what in our dreams we hope to become. I'm just feeling so beta at the thought of the Chiefs gracing us with their presence and stature tonight.
