Idk, maybe all these OL JS passed on don't have the football mentality that MM is looking for in his players? Maybe they're coming in for an interview, wondering how much they're gonna get paid, and MM is strictly looking for mental toughness to go with a smash mouth offense.
Aside from the fact that we havn't had many OL come in for visits anyway, this seems like a huge stretch. They know what these guys bring on the field, passing on a player you know can help your team because a guy in his 20s is excited to be making many millions would be pretty ridiculous, if not straight embarrassing for the franchise. No way do teams operate like that outside of feel-good movies. They all have many data points showing their "mental toughness". These players aren't rookies anyway, they have agents, they're very well-prepped in what to say and what not to say in these interviews.

Those few days where teams could negotiate with players, but wouldn't have been able to meet (or do a physical) is interesting to me because the vast majority of the top free agents agreed to terms during this period, and I don't recall hearing any other stories of a team with a demand like this, nor do I recall it happening any other year recently either. Fries going into free agency off an injury-shortened season is hardly an unusual thing.

Not to mention, his injury was a broken tibia. In terms of recovery, isn't that really not considered that big of a deal? Especially for a 26-year-old. Why would they be making an exception and pushing for the physical beforehand?

Sounds like damage control to me. I'll bet once they realized they either couldn't or wouldn't match what Minnesota had on the table for him, they put out the whole physical thing knowing he wouldn't accept. That way it looks like they at least tried to sign him. I know it seems crazy that the franchise who has been telling us for months about how Geno is their guy would report something misleading, but this whole thing is sketchy.

Rappaport, NFL Network and 710 ESPN all reported it. He refused to come to Seattle. Couldn't wait one damn day.
Same per year, but Minnesota offered 5 years to our 3.
My guess is Fries wasn’t confident he would do well in the physical which could jeopardize deals with both Minnesota and Seattle, he already had a sure thing with Minnesota. Another big question is if Seattle wasn’t willing to match Minnesota’s offer of the years What’s the point of bringing in Fries for a physical?

I'm sure they knew he'd reject it. They just wanted it to look like they were trying to sign him.

Radunz only plays RG, and he was intimidated by our assembly of RGs, Anthony Bradford, Christian Haynes, and whatever his name was who started a few games for us. Radunz might have the stats of a Schneider man, but he wasn't sure how coaches will handle him.

You have a shred of evidence of this beyond your speculation?
No, I'm absolutely not reporting that as fact. I'm skeptical of the story being floated and that's my guess of what went down based on what little we do know. It would have been unrealistic for the front office to think Fries would have risked a better offer on the table to come here and jump through hoops.

Radunz is signing with the Saints, now 0 for 3.

Crazy thing is the Saints have shored up their #1 weakness which was OL. And they drafted Fuaga last year because of Penning being a disappointment.
