Who's moving the goal post?? This discussion is about JS and his track record for drafting and trading for OLine. It's not good. The Seahawks OLine has ranked in the bottom quartile of the NFL for 7 of the last 10 years and the bottom half 9 of the last 10. Rat was right on point.
Exactly, it is Schneider’s philosophy towards the offensive line that is the problem

You guys got me interested in JS drafting patterns. Since the 2010 draft he’s taken OL 11 times out of 44 top 100 picks and 14 out of 91 101+ picks. That actually surprised me. 25% of top 100 picks is a good amount of draft capital used. I think the data is pointing more towards scouting being an issue combined with a reluctance to bring in top FA talent.

But whatever it is, it needs to be fixed soon. I’m so tired of watching a crap O line week after week. Hopefully the young guys take a step forward with the new coaching and we draft well but I feel like I say that every year now.

Rappaport, NFL Network and 710 ESPN all reported it. He refused to come to Seattle. Couldn't wait one damn day.
Same per year, but Minnesota offered 5 years to our 3.
Clearly he wanted more term and Seattle wasn't willing, so why come? This is the art of negotiation. You either match the term or exceed it or offer more per year for less term. This is where JS needs to earn his check. It's not like the Vikings run a different scheme anymore.

Again, ignoring facts to fit your BS

Didn’t he sign before any team doctors were technically allowed to do their own independent tests? Seahawks are a bit stricter on Medicals.
Yeah. Basically teams couldn't have personal contact until Wed per the CBA. He agreed to sign before then.

The medical exam is a smokescreen. You can require it upfront or you can make the deal contingent on passing.

Idk, maybe all these OL JS passed on don't have the football mentality that MM is looking for in his players? Maybe they're coming in for an interview, wondering how much they're gonna get paid, and MM is strictly looking for mental toughness to go with a smash mouth offense.

Can anyone tell me when JS took over more control of the draft from Pete? To my recollection it was a year or two before Pete was fired. If we are talking track records, look at the drafting prior to JS taking control of it vs him taking control after. If my memory serves me right it was maybe the offseason in 21 or 22 when some of Petes grip on the team was lessened. In the 22' draft two starting tackles were drafted. Outside of injury, it could be argued that the 3rd round RT is better than the 1st round LT. Pete was too much of a meddler, a mad scientist, always messing with the chemistry. All those big trades to bring in a difference maker? Harvin, Richardson, Clowney, Adams, Graham...I'm convinced that was all Pete.

I can legitimately count 15 of these guys as regular quality contributors. Thats 15 out of 26. Thats getting close to a 60% hit rate on all picks the last three drafts. Historically the 1st round by itself is considered successful if 50% make an impact of any type. Theres another 2 or 3 on this draft list that I didn't even count but could play roles in the future.

John Schneider, keep up the good work and bring us another bumper crop in the 2025 draft.
