Wow, gotta really wonder what Gresham did :( I wish this news made me happier.

Me too, well other than what nicknames we can come up for Ott.

Ott was reported to have signed with the Seahawks in early September - incorrectly as it turned out.

This (below) is from a September 2 Seattle Times article, at here

Coach Pete Carroll on Wednesday had revealed that Frese was battling a shoulder injury. It’s possible that injury played into the move to sign Ott.

Said Carroll on Wednesday of Frese: “I’d like to see him play free of his injury. He’s farther away from it now, he should have a better chance. It has bothered him some. It’s right in his shoulder so it does affect his snapping some. He’s done a really nice job. I don’t know that we’ve had a guy make five tackles in three games so that’s a fantastic contribution for us. He’s got some real positives there that we’re fired up about but we’ve just got to get him cleaned up a little bit. He got it [his injury] the first play of the second game.”

Frese out is a good thing. He has been horrid. Was really hoping for Gresham, but maybe he's just not ready to go.

Ever since Gresham's car broke down on the side if I-5, his career in Seattle began to fall apart.

Ott better not mess this up

Several times, this season, he has Tweeted his availability to the Hawks.

After this, latest, and obviously final, snub, he Tweeted

It is entirely possible that he is just trolling us about the book and the details, but given the odd way this has gone, it seems like there must be more to the story than just moving on from a player.

I mean, how do you pass over a healthy, veteran player, who is intimately familiar with your system, and has been a contributor to your past success, for someone who is brand new to the system, when the vet is available to you for the entire playoffs at no cost, unless there is something extracurricular going on?

Wow. Clint is a solid writer. Doesn't sound as if he saw it coming at all. I worry that our brain trust has let the " geniuses " label they earned after the 2012 draft go to their heads and now find them selves unable to do the no brainer's?

Because none of those other teams had a several year history of success with him as long snapper for their current punter and place-kick holder. Not all of those teams had a long snapper that was showing some cracks. Most importantly, most of those other teams know better than to mess with a kicking game duo (trio?) that is working.

It isn't that Gresham is somehow a ton better than everybody else at the position, It is just an acknowledgment of the importance of consistency in this facet of the game. As the rate of success of any endeavor approaches 100%, eliminating even the most minuscule amount of variability emerges as one of the most important facets of maintaining that high success rate.
