Wouldn't it make sense that if Johnson leaves and if Fraley is any good that he stays put in Detroit on a pro.otion to oc? I too am afraid of the Shane Waldo experience again....

Has anyone considered that when Ben Johnson is named a HC in the coming days, HE might ask Fraley to be HIS OC. And if he doesn't, maybe he knows Fraley isn't ready yet.
It’s actually fairly likely. Will depend if he wants autonomy or to just learn more under Johnson.

Yeah, between Waldren, basing everything on a coaching tree and Grubb, with his lack of NFL experience - I feel like a lot of fans are a little gunshy of taking a chance, including me. And maybe even influencing the team. Double-edged sword kind of thing going on here. Maybe miss out on a young innovating guy or avoid another wasted season on a failure.

Frailey is in a good spot. Could get promoted to OC in Detroit. Could get hired as a OC in Chicago or Seattle. Eventhough he wouldn't be calling plays in Chicago.

I'd almost rather have Kubiak anyway, at least that's what I'll keep telling myself

Best Job for him would be OC in Chicago.
BJ is the 100% playcaller

Like the Bears pipe dreaming that they get Johnson?
Why was that a pipe dream? He knows the division, has last year’s number one overall QB, a solid defense and several very good player. Seems like an obvious fit. Although, his style is better suited for a dome or southern climate.

I think this is my top choice now. This goes against what I said previously about wanting a guy with playcalling experience. But F it, if O line improvement is the number one priority, this is the guy!
I suspect you are right. JS tends to overreact on filling holes. Love the attitude and the things his players say about him. Offensive grit is a huge need.

Many said there was no way he was going to Chicago. Also, Chicago rarely does the right thing. Been that way for several years.
I’m not sure he’s the best fit for Chicago. But, not my problem.

Not mine either, but a hell of a hire for them. They have some talent on that team. It's not like they're in full rebuild mode. And they have their QB, and some damn good WR's.

Is the Fraley meeting in Seattle or is MM and JS meeting him in Detroit or another place? I have a feeling that Ben Johnson is going to offer him the Bears OC position.

Perhaps Fraley wants to get out from under Ben Johnson's shadow. Besides, I'm sure he'd have more say here in regard to the offense than he would in Chicago. The fact that he's taking a 2nd interview is a good sign.
