I finally assembled a draft at first-pick where I got most of the players I wanted:
Round 2 Pick 9 (NYG): Nick Martin, C/OG, Notre Dame (B)
- Jack Conklin is really the only 1st round talent I'm interested in. He was long gone, so I traded down with the Giants and got Nick Martin in the 2nd, whom I really like. He can play C or G.
Round 2 Pick 25: Charles Tapper, DE, Oklahoma (B+)
- This guy reminds me of Michael Bennett with his size and athleticism. I would see if he can be an inside/outside guy like Bennett and Frank Clark. Am thinking Tapper, Clark and Bennett could be a great group across the front.
Round 3 Pick 12 (OAK): Devontae Booker, RB, Utah (A+)
- I was debating between Booker and Kenyon Drake from Alabama. I like both of these guys. Booker is a great receiver as well, so I gave him the nod. Ultimately I like them both, though.
Round 3 Pick 27: Deion Jones, OLB/ILB, LSU (A-)
- I saw this guy flying all over the place in the Senior Bowl and think he can play OLB or maybe as a big safety. Ultimately I think when you have playmakers like this, you can find a place for him.
Round 3 Pick 34 (COMP): Nick Vannett, TE, Ohio State (A)
- another guy who impressed me in the senior bowl. I don't think Jimmy Graham is worth the money he is due. I'd like to see what this kid can do.
Round 4 Pick 11 (NYG): Travis Feeney, OLB/ILB, Washington (D+)
- I'm a fan of tweeners. I like athletes who can fly all over the place to make plays. Deion Jones, Feeney, Brandon Browner and even Kam would all be tweeners that could, imo, play OLB or safety.
Round 4 Pick 23 (MINN): Graham Glasgow, OG, Michigan (B-)
- This guy is my favorite OL in the draft after Jack Conklin. Can play C or G. Between him and Nick Martin we could give Justin Britt his walking papers.
Round 4 Pick 26: Joe Dahl, OG, Washington State (D-)
- I think this kid has a chance to play T in the NFL and I'd like to give him the chance to win that position.
Round 5 Pick 32 (COMP): Paul McRoberts, WR, Southeast Missouri State (A+)
- Long, lean WR. I know we re-signed Kearse and we've got Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett, but I think we should challenge Kearse and I have no confidence that Paul Richardson can do that.
Round 6 Pick 5 (MINN): Jaydon Mickens, WR, Washington (A)
- love this guy's speed and athleticism. Definitely worth a late round pick to see if he can push the group of UW receivers we already have.
Round 6 Pick 40 (COMP): Donte Deayon, CB, Boise State (A+)
- This guy does not fit the Seahawk mold for CB's. There is no way they would ever select him. But I like him. He's short but athletic and tough and has proven himself against good competition.
Round 7 Pick 4: Connor Wujciak, DT, Boston College (C-)
- A late round flyer to get some backup for Rubin on the DL. This kid does not allow broken tackles. I like that.
Round 7 Pick 26: Vernon Adams Jr., QB, Oregon (C-)
- I think Adams would make a great understudy for Russell Wilson. For the record, I think there are a lot of really good potential backups in this draft (Dak Prescott is one) but Adams should be easily available in the 7th, if not as an UDFA.
