Okay, somebody more in the know on this give us a breakdown. I was just watching highlights on youtube and towards the end tried to make a point to watch Jones. For what I saw, I liked. He seemed to block his man well, sometimes driving them back and sometimes peeling off to get a free rusher. On the last touchdown run, for example, he ended the play in the backfield and I was curious so I watched it again. It appears he peels off his defender and blocks somebody coming in free from the side.

I didn't really pay attention to Fant.

Jones especially looked good to me but Fant looks ready for more playing time as well.

I wonder if Fant taking over at RT but moving back to TE for the jumbo packages and having Ifedi come back in wouldn't be a bad idea.

Fant gave up a sack, 2nd quarter when were down 20-6 and driving in the red zone. On second down they did a stunt and Fant blocked the end who was running towards Iupati allowing the tackle to run around him and sack Russ. Fant clapped his hands after the play as if to say my bad.

Now he had no penalties and I am encouraged by that but Ifedi and Brown are still our two best tackles. After this season I would love Fant as a cheaper RT than Ifedi

Fant had a rough start, but seemed to settle down over the course of the game. I think more PT would help with consistency.

I'm surprised he isn't the starting right tackle. Ifedi's penalties are so tiresome.

They both played better than Ifedi.

Ifedi had a penalty but he blocked fine. None of Myles Garret's sacks were against Ifedi.

Fant was my no. 1 worry going into this game, but he mostly held his own. I was impressed.

I really wouldn't mind to have Jamarco and Fant as our future tackles, Hunt or Pocic as Center. We will need young guards though. So far, there's no news on Roos, and Simmons is hurt.

What about Haynes?

He’s now eligible to return from PUP.

To my eyes Fant was excellent in the running game but routinely beaten on passing plays. Jamarco Jones was good in both areas. Iupati dominated in the running game. We'll know more when the coaching film is released.

Florida and loving GOP country!
Fant did a good job at LT before the injury that took him out for almost a full season, so I was not surprised at his performance, but Jones has been a pleasant surprise for sure!

I just rewatched the condensed game and keyed on Jones every play. I’m telling you, we havent had a guard play this well in a very long time. His run blocking is above average, but his pass protection is stellar. I’m not one to get excited about watching line play, but he’s a legit football player. His best play was near the end of the third when he doubled the tackle to help Britt and as a blitzed tried to sneak past his right shoulder he smoothly slid in front and completely stonewalled the guy. He’s smart and strong and I don’t think we can afford to have him on the bench.

I remember a lot of these same arguments about getting rid of Okung in favor of Fant. They are almost as dumb now as they were then. Ifedi is no Okung, but he's better than a lot of folks here make him out to be.

I was wondering when Fluker comes back and IF Fluker will retake his starting job. I liked what I saw of Jones. I'm wondering, too, if he's a much better guard than he is a tackle.

Fant was garbage.
This matches the eye test. TBF, Fant was up against one of the best in the league all game.

Iupati and Britt seemed to have the best days. Ifedi and Jones weren't bad.
