Do you guys notice how much niner fans say 'lol'?

They seem to always begin or end their posts with lol.

So annoying. Is everything really that funny?

I wouldn't get on them too bad for that. Typing "lol" after a comment is often an attempt to show that you're typing whatever it is you are in good spirits, and don't intend to come off as angry or argumentative. I did it a fair amount myself strictly for that reason. And I don't really like how it makes me look like a 16 year old girl. But it's often very hard to imply tone or mood on the internet.

And maybe we should all give the Niner fans who post here a bit of a break. Sure they have their own forums and sites. But they're filled with 49er fans. Who can blame them? ;)

They're both going to be really, really good. Don't understand why Hawk fans can't just accept that.

Because on offense, they have more questions than answers, at this stage of the game. Who among their receivers is even capable of a 1000 yard season?

The real question with the Whiners fans is...when we kick their ass in week 2 again, will they disappear for 10 years like they did when they were the dregs of the NFC West for most of the last decade?

Damn fair weather bandwagoners!

Well...I'm here when the last game was a less than favorable result for the Niners...so that should say something. If the next game is just as lopsided for the 'hawks then I might lick my wounds for a couple days, but I'll be back.

This is still a run first offense. Did Seattle have a 1000 yard receiver LAST year? They seemed to do fine without one.

This, part deux. I've personally been maligned by fellow .netters a few times for using smilies to excess, or using "lol" to excess, but it's because when you're communicating through text, you have very little to go by to determine when someone's serious or when they aren't. No body language or tone of voice to read.

Exactly...

Very often when I'm writing here people get the impression that I'm upset. If I were really upset I wouldn't be typing on a forum...I'd just turn it off or be much more pointed in my posts. Most of the time I'm just enjoying the conversation and I can communicate that with LOL or :D .

Doesn't always work tho...most often people just assume I'm upset.

The only time I can genuinly say I was upset on this forum was when we were talking about mexicans in the parking lot at Candlestick...and the assumption they are gang members. My wife is mexican and my boys LOOK mexican...so I can easily see them wearing their jerseys and being lumped in. At that point it becomes personal. "Mess with me, fine...mess with my boys..." kinda thing. Don't want to rehash the entire conversation (and I don't think the OP meant it the way I took it)...just sayin thats the only time I was actually annoyed.

2) This thread doesn't exist in a vacuum. Just because it wasn't in THIS thread doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

3) I stated specifically it wasn't ALL FANS.

For someone trying to convince us how you are not defensive, sensitive or hurt...you sure are spending a lot of energy in this thread being defensive, sensitive and hurt. 8)
This is my take as well.

The "lol" comes across to me as nervous laughter.

They need something more substantial than an unproven rookie, a first round bust turned re-tread, a beat up old man, and Mr. Butterfingers Kick Fielder Extraordinaire. To go from a 1300 yard receiver to what you have now is an incredible dropoff. As things sit presently, our secondary can just single up on your wideouts and rush five at Kaep all day long. Vernon Davis is the only "threat", but I wouldn't anticipate an All-Pro season from the likes of him.

Well...

1) They didn't have a 1300 yards receiver, they had a 1100 yard receiver who had 874 yards the year prior when they went 13-3.

2) The "Beat up old man" had more yards than ANY Seahawks receiver last year and was arguable the best WR in the playoffs.

3) The "unproven rookie" looks pretty good and EVERY PLAYER is an unproven rookie at some point in their careers. That doesn't make them bad players.

4) "Mr. Butterfingers" was actually turning into a pretty good slot receiver before he got hurt last year.

5) "The first round bust turned retread" is fighting to be the FIFTH reciever on a team that features 2 TE sets and very often has no more than ONE receiver on the field.

I think that last one is the big thing people don't understand. I'd be much more concerned about the WR position if this was the Packers, Patriots, or Saints. Its not. WR isn't as important on this team as it would be on another. Seattle is in the same boat. Harvin was a bonus. He was never critical.

Good post. 49ers have had WR problems the past few seasons. Entering the playoffs, we have had to rely on Ted Ginn Jr. and an ancient Randy Moss. Hell, Chad Hall played some snaps in the Atlanta game. It's not like the 49ers have been carried by great WR play. Crabtree stepped up last season, but our depth behind him has been abysmal.

This season, we will have 5 receivers I feel pretty good about. Boldin, Williams, Patton, Moore, and Baldwin will get the job done. Vernon Davis is elite and McDonald looks like a stud. We have talent at the skills positions.

One person said that about 1-7 (which btw, was true) One. Then a Niner fan chimed in with the whole 2nd & 3rd read thing and was incorrect so I corrected him while being careful to not say it meant anything.

I think you are overly sensitive.

He scrambled on 2 passes, and there was one pass where he threw to the left after looking at the right and middle. Now, that means 50% of the passes on that drive were to 2nd or 3rd options. He said most, right? Based on that, he's wrong. But I'd have to look at each pass again to be sure. Either way, it is reasonable that AT A MINIMUM he threw to the 2nd or 3rd option on 50% of the passes on the TD drive.

Your thoughts?

Do the Niners fans have a forum?

Serious question.

Well yeah, over at nambla.com but when they want to talk some football they come here.

Oh, the National Association of Marlon Brando Look-Alikes?

Until the 49ers play the Seahawks, you'll see 49er comments. Then you'll see some immediately after, either trash talking, good game, or other such things. After that, 49ers fans will disappear unless something important is going on (race for division heating up or something). Until they return for the second game- the matchup is what matters.

Because other than the two games (and possibly third), the only time the Seahawks are in the minds of 49er fans is when the division is being thought about. That's the offseason, near head to head matches, and during the playoff push.

That's to be expected from the most diehard of 49er fans, yet you say they are banwagoners if they aren't posting here every single week? Think this through again, good sir.

BACK on topic, I'm sure they got better things to do, I mean their baseball teams in NoCal are relevant... Are the Mariners even playing anymore?

Well, that's true of the A's, not so much the Giants this year. :(

Nah...It's preseason. Stands not always full for those games...especially not early in the game.

My man, they cannot even talk with any real knowledge about the back half of their roster. How they going to talk about the NFL?
