Just to give you some examples of 40 times for some well known edge rushers:
Nick Bosa, 4.79, Miles Garrett 4.64, Maxx Crosby 4.66, TJ Watt 4.69. As was stated, Jones ran it in 5.12. Admittedly, those are some of the top edge rushers in the game and might not be a fair comparison, but it's still one helluva gap.
But, as I did with Pete, I'll defer to Mac's judgement until proven otherwise. Perhaps he has a different plan for him than the traditional edge/olb.

He proved that he doesn't have the size and strength to be a 3-4 DE. So may as well give him a shot to be 3-4 OLB.

His size and power does provide a benefit….but ultimately, I’m wondering if he has the technique.
A powerful Edge that may sacrifice some speed if he can shed effectively and get low after something like a rip isn’t the worst thing….but it is definitely hard picturing him being there.
40 speed is good. No doubt. I’d be more concerned with his ability to flip his hips and lateral adjustment.

Coaching, and scheme, and movement all sounds great, but this game
has been being played for years. Teams may have some tricks up their
sleeve.
Doing stuff other teams haven’t seen are rare. It boils down to talent,

Dre'Mont Jones was listed at 286 lbs in the 2018 Ohio State Football Media Guide (the one for Jones's final season at Ohio State) and measured at 281 at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine. And at that point, he may have actually been significantly slimmed down, because while he was listed at 280 lbs in the 2015 and 2016 media guides for Ohio State's football team, he was listed at 295 (!!!) in the 2017 guide, and that's the measurement that ended up on his page at Sports-reference.com's college-football site.
That listing for 2017 could be wrong, but in any case, it seems clear that the last time Dre'Mont Jones saw 250 was before he went to Ohio State, and it was probably before his junior year of high school.
But he's only been here 1 year!
Anyway, I thought Dremont was supposed to be our answer to Michael Bennett in the first place, so moving him to hedge and having him slide inside on passing downs makes sense to me.
Importantly having size and strength on the edge should help with our 1st and 2nd down run defense.

When it gets to that point you draft, use udfa's, or players cut.
You do not overpay for a jag, it's what gets you fired.
I guess it's a shot to nothing if he can't play the 5-tech.
I think Mike Morris could be an important piece this season.
