I almost feel sorry for them. Saw some ugly highlights of last night's game vs Ravens. And then this:

The "nerd" thing was a cool experiment and for a while it somehow worked. It was actually different and refreshing. But it has completely fallen apart in Miami and we are reminded why head coaches are usually a certain type of guy. McDaniel will land an OC job in 2 seconds if he wants. But he's not head coach material.

Tua looks scared when he plays. There was a play last night where instead of just running to his left, he throws it into the ground. WAY before a defender was near him. He also throws tentative. Good luck with that contract. And when is it going to be enough for them to get rid of coach math teacher? Holy hell. Some guys should just be coordinators.

Laughs in McVay, Shanahan, Payton, and LaFleur.

Looks like they could be hurtin' for a while:

That is the cap number so includes non guaranteed base salary which is exactly why you get rid of a player.

It will be hard to cut him for next season ($99m dead money, -$42m cap savings) but 2027 is an fairly easy out ($32m dead money, $22m cap savings).

I don't put it all on McDaniel. He had a poorly constructed roster with a boatload of malcontents. And a cap problem to boot. They lost a bunch of good players and had some injuries. He did succeed at first, so I think he has some good ideas. I doubt he gets a second chance, though.

The days of the drill sergeant head coach are gone. The players respond to intelligence and decency. Leadership isn't about being the toughest guy out there, it's about relatability and communication. Although Dan Campbell projects toughness, his players love him because he's authentic and smart and relatable.

There is an aspect to McDaniel where he may not be relatable because he's so quirky. He is also not a great communicator or particularly inspiring.

Au contraire. McDaniel had an opportunity to pressure Tua subtly while the latter was out with concussions instead of prioritizing tua’s feelings.

Fins did beat the Falcons by more than three TDs the week prior, so I guess they had been celebrating all week from that on some serious Pop Rocks candy or something.
Pop Rocks and Candy Corn. LOL

Interesting perspective. I didn't see Tua's concussion as an opportunity to pressure him. In what way do you think he should have pressured him? And this is an honest question, not criticizing or disagreeing with you, because I agree Tua has not been at his best since returning.

It’s akin to Payton vs Russ in 2023, as in Payton’s survival depended on moving Russ off his contract. Same with this. It was totally in McDaniels interest at that time to distance himself from Tua both professionally and personally.

Bro was a GameStop manager who was pretty good at Madden who accidentally ended up in the line of interviewees for the Dolphins HC job while he was walking home from work one day. The GameStop (now closed) was only 2.4 miles from Hard Rock Stadium. Easy mistake to make I'm sure.

It was some straight up Three's Company level confusion that led to him being named HC.

Ah, I see your point. But I think Tua had even a higher dead cap hit this year than Russ, and the Dolphins, being in a worse salary cap situation, had no way of absorbing that.

The Dolphins are on the list of perennial losers that will never amount to anything. Hard to blame a coach for how $#!++× that organization is, it exists just to exist at this point.
