Alex McGough was stuck behind a couple legit quarterbacks. He went to the USFL to get game day playing time. As far as I know, John Schneider is still interested. Although the Seahawks already have a #1 & #2 quarterback.

I was surprised he didn't stick in the NFL. Yeah, 7th round QBs rarely do, but I thought he showed legit potential in that preseason he was here.

The NFL gives up too early on plenty of QBs, including our own Geno Smith. Most teams would rather go with an untested early pick than give a veteran who has been labelled a career backup a shot.

Some notable NFL QBs who have played in other leagues:
USFL:
Jim Kelly
Steve Young
Doug Flutie

NFL Europe:
Kurt Warner
Brad Johnson
Jon Kitna
Jake Delhomme

Canadian Football:
Warren Moon
Doug Flutie
Joe Thiesmann
Jeff Garcia

A couple of XFL QBs got wins in the NFL last year (Taylor Heinicke and PJ Walker) but I don't think anyone expects them to become quality starters. Who knows though?

The NFL could really use a developmental league (other than college football). I don't think the USFL is trying to position itself that way but you know players will go where the money is if they get a chance.
