I had Seattle not picking anybody in the first round. Nailed that one!

I picked Ty Powell in the 3rd round. Only a casual mention of Alvin Bailey as an alternate to my draft choices. That doesn't count, but I think he is a versatile lineman with SEC experience that could stick. I thought he would be drafted by about round 4. Great to get him as an UDFA. Anyone know why? (He was listed on many sites to be one of the top guards in the draft)

It was interesting...I had read several pieces on the Hawks having legitimate interest in Michael, Harper and Williams in the weeks leading up to the draft. For some reason, I "bought in" and it seemed like Williams and Harper, at least, were good fits for us.

I didn't see Michael coming...but now that I've had a chance to analyze it after the fact, I get it and it makes sense.

I wish I had seen those articles before the draft. I knew about Michael but Williams never made sense for Seattle's 3-tech, which was proven when they took Hill over Williams in the 3rd round. Drafting Williams as competition for Bryant is a luxury, and potentially a brilliant pick, but I never felt it was an obvious need. Basically, before the draft everyone assumed that Williams was a top 50 lock and I didn't think Seattle would take a pure specialist like him anywhere close to that early. But in the 5th round? Hell yeah. It's just that no one on the outside could anticipate he'd last that long.

And Harper I hadn't heard any connection to Seattle at all. That was the most shocking pick of the draft for me.

Yep. Quite a few mocks had us selecting Williams.

And a buddy of mine clued me in to the interest in Harper. Not sure where he was getting that from.

Williams and Harper both made sense to me. And that's just the catch with this draft, there wasn't an "obvious need". I thought they might take a shot on Williams, although I picked it in the 2nd round which was obviously way off.

Harper was one of the WRs I thought they would target to fill the "big/physical" niche we were missing from the WR corps.

He and Jesse Williams were the only Hawk picks that I screamed out, YES!!

I had Harper targeted in a couple of my initial mocks, was later thrown off by apparently incorrect Q. Patton interest, and Christine Michael in the last one. I think most people generally over ranked the OLB need, the positions they addressed other than the number of late o-linemen was a surprise. I figured they'd go RT early, they didn't, and maybe address FS and QB in 7th round, and they picked neither position.

I think generally people thought the needs would be DT, OLB, WR, OT, CB, RB, TE, FS, QB .. and most of that group as backups or situational with the hopes of some being future starters, and that was mostly the direction they went, but skipped the QB and skipped someone behind Earl.
