Best clip I could find so far. Based on the Rams player taking exception, I can only assume it was deliberate.

Hall denied that he purposely stepped on him; Said that he TRIED NOT TRIPPING OVER Dotson, and hell, even Timothy McPricK said that Dotsons injury wasn't CAUSED by this play.
Hall intends to contest this penalty laid on him by the NFL.

Thats nuts, from what I seen on the replay how could they say it was intentional. I must need to watch more replays of this. The NFL knows he is a valuable player to the team and wants to even the odds against Carolina. Bummer.

I didn't think it was a dirty play and I don't think that Hall is a dirty player. However, he wasn't pushed and he's responsible for his own actions. Sometimes you're in the wrong place at the wrong time and stuff happens.
If he was flagged in the moment I would buy that. This isn't "stuff happens", the NFL saw what we saw yet decided to punish him regardless after an appeal

If this is suspension worthy then they REALLY need to crack down on leg/ankle twisters in the piles.

Also does this mean that DKs swing and probably miss is worthy of a lifetime ban?
Remember the attempted Ankle-twist on Darnold just before the end of Regulation against the Rams?

You know....when Darnold got sacked and was almost in a forced leg-split there with the defender twisting his leg?

Yeah....

Wasn't it just upheld which means he failed to successfully contest it?

I'm beginning to think the league wants the 49ers to get the #1 seed.

Well not really because it's only for 1 game.

If they really wanted the Niners to win, it would've been 2 games.

He'll be back for the Niners game.

But I think the League low-key wants us to get "tripped up" by the Panthers which is why I want us to go up there in Carolina and just boat-race the f**kers as a 🖕 to the League.

I was expecting the Colts to win tonight against the 9ers, because of the whole "Rivers cinderella story". They were trying SO HARD to push it against the Hawks, figured they'd try even harder against the 49ers. Surely they wouldn't kill the Colts dreams of the playoffs with Rivers back at the helm so soon right?!

But then I saw the final score and was like "Yeah, they'll sell Rivers up the shore for THEM, of COURSE!" and that's when that original idea popped into my head

I would be just fine w/ this if the Shield followed this logic to the letter evenly across the board. Actually no the **** I wouldn't. DHall did NOTHING wrong, especially anything worthy of a game suspension.
Brevity and/or subtlety doesn't work on this forum.

If this incident had happened in the Falcons @ Cardinals game the NFL might not have taken any action at all since the teams likely won't meet again before 2027. The incident happened in a Prime Time game between the #1 and #2 teams in the NFL by points differential. More importantly these 2 teams may likely meet again soon in a high profile playoff game. The NFL are not going to risk that game deteriorating into a 100 player brawl because they ignored a really minor incident in this game. If the incident had been committed by a high profile player they might have issued a fine and a stern warning. Sadly it was a lesser-known rotational player and the NFL's 'Protect the Shield' policy means they will massively over-react, because they can. I don't like it, or agree with it, but I understand it.

As for 'stuff happens', during the game the referee whacked 1 of the Seahawks players in the face-mask whilst he was announcing a penalty. It was completely accidental. It has happened with other referees to other players in other games. Similar things have happened to players who have inadvertently clipped officials who had walked up behind them. Those players were subject to a 15-yard penalty, automatic ejection, and a fine equivalent to an illegal head-shot. Again, sometimes you're in the wrong place at the wrong time and stuff happens.

As to the incident itself, the rule is there to protect players. It doesn't have to be a deliberate act or for there to be any intention. The NFL doesn't want the other team to have their own 'unintentional' retaliation or for there to be any escalation, so any appeal based on a lack of intent was doomed to fail.

Everyone here is giving Hall the benefit of the doubt. We've seen 1 long-shot of the incident in YouTube or X definition with just enough sound to give the tv audience a game experience. The NFL is seeing the incident from multiple tv angles in ultra HD with sound direction enhancement that the C.I.A would be proud of, all coming out of their kazoo. I don't know what happened or what was said on previous plays, but the NFL does. They'll know every expletive, slur, and threat that was uttered. If someone said something stupid and then that stupid thing accidentally happened later on - well don't expect them not to know and take it into account. Again, i'm giving Hall the benefit of the doubt and I think he's unlucky, but i'll never know for sure because they'll never release stuff that makes the game look bad. Moving on.

How in the hell is this suspension upheld? It is so obviously accidental
Yeah, I agree. This doesn’t make sense after watching the available videos over and over.

Well, the Super Bowl is in Santa Clara this year, correct? Dare I say “competitive balance”. League would love a good hometown story.

Okay, assuming all of this isn't bullshit (which is a flimsy assumption to make) why wasn't the obvious and deliberate twist of Darnold's ankle by Landman which I posted earlier in this thread treated the same way?
