Denver is a rebuilding team and we got all their draft picks. Am I trippin, or is this the Hershel Walker trade?

Although it's obvious the Broncos are rock bottom at the moment, I don't believe they will be as bad as some here are predicting.

Why?

Because for as the bad as the offense has been, the defense has been equally stellar. I agree that Russ will never be close to what he was due to the many reasons explained in the aforementioned posts, but he doesn't have to be.

If Wilson and Hackett can find enough rhythm to be average or even slightly below average they will win games. I mean, the offense has been embarrassingly bad and yet they have two wins, one against the Niners. All that said, I couldn't imagine leveraging your draft future and paying top dollar for a player only to reset your expectations of him to average to slightly below average.
If juedy catches the ball in the endzone that Wilson bounced off his chest last night they win. Denver is going to be decent this year.

With the Bronco's losing their starting RB, LT, OG, two LBers & a CB, the stage is set for Russ to play some hero ball.
I see our #1 Donkey draft pick likely somewhere between 6-16 with a record of 6-11 to 9-8 depending on #3's heroic's.
This is going to get rough, with every incompletion, every 3 & out, every sack, every INT, every loss... we just may pick top 5.
Going to be interesting to watch, Rypien and some of the Bronco's taxi squad may see some live action along the way.

Observations after watching last night's debacle. Let's not forget the season is almost 1/3 of the way over:

- RW might be on the verge of a Felix Hernandez collapse. Dominant for a decade, then done. It happens a lot, but that is the local recent example I can think of.

- RW got a lot of leeway and glad-handing from Seattle fans after the two Super Bowl appearances, so much so that even as he has obviously declined, fans wouldn't boo him. He has no such pass in Denver, and it's quite possible the boos are ruining his fragile, golden boy image of himself. He should be glad he's not playing for the Giants or Jets. They would be merciless by now.

- RW's QBR rating last night was 15.9. I don't think a new team can excuse that. His highest this year was 49 something. Every NFL team has world class atheletes, so any problems come from how things are being run. (Or not run. Or not passed.)

- Richard Sherman is still mad about Marshawn not getting the ball. The divorce between Pete and Russ was long and painful; I actually am enjoying watching Geno this year and something NEW. Instead of the old he said he said between coach and quarterback that we all have had to guess because they didn't want to fight in front of the kids.
When Sherm said he wished he had Marshawn up there with him on the post-game I damn near spit out my drink. He was loving the opportunity to bury Wilson last night.

Sherm is a bitter, self aggrandizing opportunist. What was he saying when Russ converted 4th and 2? What was he saying when Denver failed multiple times when trying to score from the 1 yard line with runs and failed miserably against us?
Taking a victory lap after a failed 4th down attempt is incredibly petty but very on par for Sherm who is easily my least favorite Hawk of all time and that was the case when he was still on our team. A liar, a poor team mate, threatened to destroy someones career then lied about it, drunk driving, poor behavior and attacks on anyone he didn't like. The list goes on. I turn off the TV when he is on.

????

I respectfully disagree with you on this one. If ever
There was a competitor, a vocal badass who gave
It his all for Seattle, it was Richard Sherman . He
Played injured and was crushed that #3 helped throw away Seattle's 2nd Owl .

#25 doesn't forget and that's maybe what made him a great member of the LOB. Sure , he has his
Faults just like all of us but I'm appreciative of what he did in Seattle. #3 is making it clear what
Many have been saying about him and it's giving
The other players vindication.

I like your
point,
but the spacing needs
Some work.

Or it could be my phone. But I enjoyed what Sherm had to say last night and almost spit out my coffee this morning when one of the hosts on nfl network called Russ a poser.

I believe that Dallas got the Vikings entire draft plus some players no? So no its not the Walker trade. Plus the year is still young we don't yet know where the Broncos end up. Right now they look totally out of sync on offense though.

Yep...

This isn't even close to the Walker trade. Even if it was, having the slots is only half the battle. It's what you do with them. We don't have the best record of drafting high impact players in the early rounds the past 6-7 years or so. Thankfully, I think our 2022 draft was solid.

As a matter of reference, for a RB, Dallas received Minnesota's:
1990 first and second
1991 first and second
1992 first and second

Plus players, plus some other higher to mid round round picks...

They leveraged those picks properly by hitting big with studs like:
Emmitt Smith (RB)
Russell Maryland (DT)
Darren Woodson (S)
Clayton Holmes (CB)
Kevin Smith (CB)

(I had to google, because my memory was foggy)

Point being, It's early, and all signs point to us winning the trade, but it's not near the Walker trade (yet.....if we draft an eventual all pro QB..maybe?). I remember some Jets fans alluding to the fact that the Jamal Adams trade (which they clearly won) was on par with the Walker trade, an equally false assertion.

That was absolutely bomb, the analyst calling Russell a poser, talking about how Russell and Ciara would show up at (SB?) media day in sunglasses (and fur coats, lol, my addition) and say, "no, we aren't going to talk", meanwhile, Kelcie, Mahomes, others, friendly, willing to chat, etc.

On that 4th and 1 play, Russell ignored the open WR, I agree with the analyst who called Hamler "Ricardo Lockette" on that play, and Russ was too traumatized from SB49 to even look at that (primary) option and throw to wide-open Hamler, instead, he did his ignore the progressions/"Where's Tyler?" thing, except in Denver it's "where's Cortland?"

I've come to realize the last couple years, "The Pick" at the end of SB49 is *the truth* about who Russell Wilson is as a QB; even though Bevell created that schitt sandwich, Russell didn't change the food order and bit into what Bevell served up.

The Donks and Wilson's game-losing failure on 4th and 1 was just more of *the truth* about Russell as a QB in that situation. IMO Shows Russell's insecurity and narcissism at the same time... He wants to be known as a brilliant pocket passer, not a "running QB", wanted to win it from the pocket, plus was too insecure to change the play, and yet this time he refused to "trust the play call" as he described himself doing in SB49 on "the pick". "Trusting the play call" would have meant looking at Hamler first (numerous analysts said Hamler was the first read) and throwing the ball on time. Just a mess.

Far better for Hackett to work with Russell's strengths on that 4th-and-1 and put him under center with a run-or-pass look, then either do play action or read option and actually hand it, instead of coming out in shotgun. So definitely on Hackett and his OC too, not understanding Russell's strengths and weaknesses.

Maybe Pete was right all along in "protecting" Russell from the accountability and abuse, that Russell IS too fragile to deal with it (as Sherman alleges) and just crumbles and chokes when faced with harsh criticism and coaching demands that he change. Looks like Hackett will have to run the "Russell Wilson Offense" to salvage anything out of this, and stop asking Russell to do normal QB things like go through his progressions. Hackett had a winning play drawn up and Russ ignored the sequence of reads.

That defense is going to come back down to earth when they play some legit offenses. They gave up 32 to the raiders. Besides that they played Seattle in week 1 where Geno still had to find his groove. And they played a terrible O in San Francisco and the horrible Colts offense. Let’s see how they fare against the chargers and chiefs.
Not to mention Houston.

The genius of Dallas is that of the players they received from Minnesota. The percentage of playing time these players was directly connected
to the picks Dallas would receive, so Dallas simply benched these players thus tanking the season
but getting a haul of picks that would set them up for 3 Superbowls. They would've won more had "Jerrah"Jones not stuck his plastic surgery face in the middle of Jimmy Johnson's area of expertise.

I thought Russell was in decline and was in favor of the trade. The unexpected part is how far he seems to have fallen. Taking away scheme, protection, coaching, etc..he missed a wide open Jerry Juedy on a go route up the sideline where he had a ton of separation and wasn't under pressure in the 4th I believe and it wasn't even a deep shot, just a basic throw that any QB should make. That just isn't a pass that he misses. That 1st interception he threw was like nothing I had ever seen from him. Maybe his confidence is just crushed. Getting booed by home fans, losing to the team you "carried" on your shoulders for years, home fans walking out of the game at the start of OT. I don't know if I have ever seen home fans leave in droves like that at the start of OT. I guess the grass isn't always greener...bet he is missing those 12's cheering for him right now.
I think he may of has a concussion from his first pick when that dude laid him out. He was late on all of his throws but then again,
He seemed to be late when he was in Seattle. It caused a lot of problems .

They werent supposed to be a rebuilding team, they were supposed to be an elite qb away from being superbowl contenders. And maybe they still are, their defense gives them every chance to win every game. But now, they are just f’d 😂 we got alot of their draft capital for them to make any cheap positive changes, and they got a super expensive qb, so itll be hard to build anything else with that. I gotta admit, im gonna love watching that train wreck for years to come 😂😂😂😂

We usually trade our first round picks for a bunch of 2-5 rd picks, we should trade denvers 1st rounders to the afc west just to add insult to injury 😂

I started to feel bad for the donks, then I remembered I was just a kid when many of you lived through the AFC West era, I bet a few of those old Seahawks feel things are right with the universe lol

Denver leads the all time series with the Hawks at 35-21 but our 43 to 8 SB48 annihilation is unforgettable.

-The Seahawks first post season win was vs the Bronco's in the AFC wildcard game on Christmas Eve 83' at the Kingdome, 31-7.

-Boz/Elway. Mr. Ed & anti Boz t-shirts.

-Largent payback hit on Harden; Nuff said.

-SB48

-Wilson trade

I'd say we pretty much own the Donko's at this point. 🦄

They literally flipped the script with Seattle.
