And before anyone suggests it, NO! Seattle should not take a flier on him if/when he clears waivers. Right?
I doubt he would have been very positive about the Giants if they hadNot a surprise. He wasn't going to play, or even practice. It was whether they released him now or had him on 'gardening leave' until February. Personally I would have had him on leave for a few weeks so he could be used for team publicity, school visits, and the like.
That was a complete mess. McAdoo benched the 36-year-old Eli Manning in favor of Geno Smith. Manning was 2-9 at the time and the move was completely legitimate, if not a smart one. But McAdoo and Reese were fired the next day because the owners didn't like it. It looks like the Giants are in the habit of making decisions that aren't in the best interests of the team.Man, what a mess they've created for themselves.
And years ago Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese tried to convince ownership that Geno was a player, but they were forced to stick with whatever was left of Eli Manning.
No doubt. He put his head down on every run. There was no sliding or making business decisions. Not to bring up that subject again, but......he played hard the entire game and refused to just slide. Like him or not, that dude is tough as nails. The loss to the Giants hurts a little more now.
This dude looked all pro against Seattle and a few weeks later he’s cut.
That name never stops being funny. Ever.Vagiants. Hahahahahaha![]()
Jones' contract is guaranteed for 2024. He was going to be released before his 2025 guarantees kicked in on day 5 of the 2025 NFL year. Releasing him before the start of the 2025 NFL year means $11.1M of dead money due to be accounted for in 2026 will accelerate into 2025. For that reason alone I would not have released him before March. Maybe the Giants have an abundance of cap space, or maybe they don't care. I wouldn't have required him to attend team training and meetings between times. No team will claim Jones because doing so would mean picking up his $2M+ per game guarantees for this season. Once he clears wagers he will be free to play for minimum wage - but he'd be stupid to do so. (There will be offset guarantees in his current contract to stop him earning more). The risk from playing outweighs reward. Due to other impending QB retirements and a weak 2025 Draft for QBs he'll be seen as a cheap, ($10M+), starting QB option in free agency.I doubt he would have been very positive about the Giants if they had
If we had roster space I’d look at him for vet minimum because sometimes it’s more the team than the player but we are set at qb right now.
I gotta say though I’d want out of there if I were Lock. They are literally skipping over him so they don’t have to pay his bonuses.
RW was in the same boat as his salary was guaranteed. That’s how the Steelers nabbed him so cheap. I’d think Daniels will do the same somewhere and let the Giants foot most of the bill while he attempts to show value in another system. Right now his next contract isn’t likely to be muchJones' contract is guaranteed for 2024. He was going to be released before his 2025 guarantees kicked in on day 5 of the 2025 NFL year. Players have egos and they want to play. Multiple players have played for below market value contracts and have suffered injuries that cost them at least 1 year. Jones will be more valuable in March 2025 than Darnold and Minshew were in March 2024. I'd advise Jones not to risk it for $380K, but it's his life.RW was in the same boat as his salary was guaranteed. That’s how the Steelers nabbed him so cheap.
