Lots of threads on here about how Clowney isn't playing well elsewhere.

The trend in these posts implying we dodged a bullet.

But what if it was Clowney that dodge the bullet??

What if the reason Clowney would not talk to us was that he knew the DC was overmatched, incompetent, and would not be able to use him right. Obviously, his focus would be that his defensive stats would be impacted for a signing elsewhere...but it explains his unwillingness to talk to us at any price.

He dodged a bullet having his name associated with the worst defense in NFL history. And has underperformed expectations but not been abjectly terrible, or even bad.

Now what happens when Adams ends the year with the worst defense in NFL history? Do you think he will really want to sign another contract here under an incompetent DC? Or get a reasonable contract elsewhere with a team that knows how to use him?

We would have then traded 2 firsts for someone we don't even keep.

(Interesting we traded 2 firsts for a box safety, almost as if Pete KNEW his DC was incompetent and needing an All-Everything player to even be remotely competitive.)

Way premature the team is 6-2 and in first place considering what he endured with the Jets I think he is happy. Also Clowney stated he wanted to return to the Seahawks.

Had we given Clowney the money he wanted he'd be here. I'm sure Adams will be fine be on a team that has a chance to compete for a SB year in and year out.

There is no way we will be competing for a SB with this defense. A lot will need to change on defense before we will be competing for any Super Bowls. This is just a fact.
