he's exciting to watch, that's for sure.

2 things from that though: not many broken tackles (seems to be the big criticism against Turbo at the moment)

wow, green bay's rushing defense is so so so so bad

I agree. I'm befuddled by the Turbin hate combined with the Michael love that seems to be prevalent on here. Michael isn't anymore physical than Turbin. Turbin has been getting his feet back under him after being out most of training camp.

IMO Turbin has ran very well the last 2 preseason, true he's had 3-4 runs that would have been huge had he not got tripped up- which somehow translate to most on here that goes down on first impact. I give Michael very little credit for the huge TD run- WHy? Because any of the other 2 Rb's would have taken it inside the 10 and quite possibly into the endzone. It was such a huge hole it's ridiuclous to point to that and say that was some superb bit of running. THe OL and Kearse were the stars of that play.

This isn't to say I don't like MIchael, I do. I was super exicted with his play, it's just that I think people are getting carried away with the Michael hype. I hope to see both Turbin and MIchael run the ball this year.

I loved it when he lowered his shoulder at the end of the sick screen play in the GB game.

Yeah, he doesn't break many tackles, but he's so damn quick to the hole. How many more years of a dominant Beast Mode do we have. 2? Maybe 3?

Yeah, I'm thinking two or three years for the beast. Love watching Marshawn run the ball, but he will hang up the cleats eventually.

Christine Michael is the future. I see a lot of promise in him, and right now he looks like a steal in the second round.

I wish he would quit running by people and try to run them over now and again.

Beast Mode will never get sick. He will never get old, and he will never die.

You don't have to physically break so many tackles when you have the lateral quickness to cut right past the dude as he tackles the air where you were just a second ago.

I saw zero broken tackles in the San Diego game. It's hard to compare but I think Turbin could done about as well as Michael against that porous Green Bay defense. Man there was a lot of green on those runs.

That said, Christine definitely is the better talent, I'm just not ready to put him ahead of Robert yet because of his lack of playing experience and pass protection.

Michael does have about 10x the change of direction ability of Turbin though. His moves make defenders miss like crazy where Turbin is more suited for 3rd down and the end of games I'd be okay with Michael getting more touches in the first half with Lynch just to get an explosive play here and there then use Turbin to kill the clock late with his strength.

Having two other RBs showing that they can light up Defenses, and to take some of the load off of Marshawn.
I don't doubt that Beast Mode is going to be around for awhile longer because of some of the wear down that he'll be sharing with these other two.
Most Defenses are going to be in a tizzy when two of these guys, along with RW, are fielded at the same time.

True, it's more of him being elusive and not being susceptible to easy tackles. The contrast in their balancing ability is a stark one. There are other factors too.

Not all broken tackles are obvious either- just count up the number of shoe string tackles each RB has around the LOS. Turbin's got several more than Michael does, and it's obvious why: balance. Michael has a knack for eluding defenders and resisting cheap tackles. As a RB, you need to be either elusive or resilient, and Turbin struggles in both those areas. Michael is good in both those areas.

Michael doesn't break tackles like Lynch does, but he makes a lot of would be tacklers fail and he accomplishes that in several ways. Also, I don't really care if a RB is a tackle breaking machine, he just needs to be hard to tackle, or at least not be easy to tackle. Turbin is too easy to bring down and it is holding him back in a major way. So long as he's going down this easily, we won't see the playmaker that racked up big plays at Utah State.

Instead, we're left with a classic backup RB who provides most of his value with his blocking and receiving. He reminded me of Mo Morris last season, and the more I watch, the more he looks like another Morris to me. Morris was a good player, but Mo Morris wasn't the type of guy who'd get in the way of a franchise RB on the roster, at least not for very long.

I think Turbin will remain the #2 RB this year and I think it will only be because of his receiving and blocking, and maybe because of fumbles. Hearing Pete attempt to temper enthusiasm for Michael and insisting the Michael has things to work on or prove himself at... it all makes me think Pete prefers Turbin as a #2 RB, and Sherman Smith has echoed similar sentiments. So I would guess that we'll see more Turbin carries than Michael carries this season, but in the long run Michael will be Lynch's successor, barring some pretty big changes for Turbin, one's I'm not expecting to happen. You can't coach balance, vision, and athleticism.

I think it's pretty clear that Michael is the future barring unforeseen problems, but the future might still be a year or two away. Which sucks because Michael looks ready to produce right now.

I loved Michael's cutback ability. But I was also struck by how many well-blocked runs were a part of his highlight reel. Each featured either massive push, or huge holes for him to run with.
