Typical 9er headline: The [team name] have received [player name] from the 49ers in exchange for a [number] round pick.
Typical Seahawk headline: The [team name] have claimed [player name] from waivers, formerly of the Seahawks.

I love our FO, but shamefully jealous of how 9ers keep turning their scraps into picks while we seem to let them go with nothing in return. Same thing on draft day. Its like a freaking Jedi mind trick. You will give us next year's second round pick in exchange for this bag of feces. And they just nod.
Agreed. Many posters on here were salivating over the idea that the Hawks would pick up multiple draft picks once you guys started determining your 53.

The 49ers have gotten more so far. I guess the 49ers depth isn't as bad as some people make it out to be.

Having said that, the 49ers picking up conditional 7th round picks for potential starters isn't all that impressive

The fact that Cam is a "potential starter" in Indy says more about Indy than SF. This is the same team that gave good money to RJF.

LOL.

Corey Lemoneir is a star in the making. I just hope he starts taking time over Brooks this year.

Pete and John get it right with 10 or less draft picks while Baalke hits on one every 30 picks. That is why the niners NEED so many draft picks.

IT can be as simple as the Niners probably liked Harper but SEA drafted him first. NOw that he is available, the Niners see an opportunity to make their roster better. It doesn't always have to be mind games, etc. I know that is what fans like to believe, but in reality its probably more of just making the roster better.

Can you look yourself in the mirror and say you honestly believe what you've just typed?

I can.

This is the big leagues...you don't waste a roster spot to play mind games. This was done because the 49ers lost Gray off waivers to the Browns. Plain and simple.

It was a Seahawk because they are a very good team and could afford to cut a player with potential.

From another thread addressing cuts yesterday ......
Both Harper and McGrath did not snach the ball out of the air consistently.

Instead, they allowed the ball get inside into their body.

I think the quicker hands made the roster.

I think that Harper is a development project.

He is spot on for what the 49ers want to develop.

San Francisco gets to stick their finger in someone's eye ... which they relish.

The 49ers continue the melodrama they crave.

All in all ..... great theater for them.

No sense in arguing with Niner fans over how they draft. We are always stupid for pointing out that their draft picks aren't on the active game day roster. Their patented response is: we don't need rookies, we redshirt them. Last year was all about how A.J. Jenkins was just a tearing it up and he was gonna be great he was just redshirting. Well, now he is in KC.

Now, they have Harper, but don't worry he has to redshirt, remember.

I think Niner fans that come on here are hypocrites. There are a few decent ones. They like to poke holes in our team and our drafts, but if you say anything about them it turns into little hissy match and they get all self righteous.

As far as the Hawks are concerned, I'm not impressed with out track record of picking WR's. I think it is the one position where they completely pigeon hole, not just ht/wt, but they look for a skill set that is different from what we already have. They look for the anomaly in the draft. I think Chris could be developed, and I wish we could have kept him on our roster. Personally I would have jettisoned Mike Person for Harper, but oh well.

In regards to the playbook, I think the Hawks and Niners know each other pretty well and I don't that we have gotten into specific game-planning for the Niners in the preseason, so that part isn't a concern.

There really isn't much hype. He is regarded as a good general manager throughout the league and I have no complaints. He has help construct one of the best rosters we have had in a long time.

It's not my problem that YOU believe the hype surrounding Baalke.

Oh please. The only reason you don't like him is the team he works for. Don't pretend otherwise.

Most 49ers fans on here don't have much negative things to say about the Hawks. I certainly don't.

Anyways, saying that Baalke only hits 1 out of 30 draft picks is obviously trolling. Some 49ers fans have already posted how great the 2011 draft was. So, I won't repeat it. But, yea, the 49ers have made mistakes. Saying that Baalke can't draft is a joke, however.

....and quite a few of the posts are from 9er fans trying to get over on how smart their team is in getting that 4th round pick. if one didn't know any better one would think this is a 9er board.... :49ersmall: :49ersmall: :49ersmall:

#1) Harper sucks. Glad he's the Niners problem now, though I'm sure they'll soon discover that he can't catch and cut him too.

#2) Some Hawk fans seem pretty insecure when it comes to debating Niner fans. No need to be defensive. It's simple: San Fran has a great team, but Seattle is a lot better:

QB: Push
RB: Hawks
WR: Hawks
OL: Niners - but it's close
TE: Push
DL: Push
LB: Niners
DB: Hawks
ST - Hawks
Coaching: Push
Depth: Hawks
Home Field Advantage: HAWKS
Schedule: Niners

The last one is the only thing that should cause any concern.

It sounds more like they see him as a TE/H-Back in the mold of Delanie Walker, not a WR. He's actually build very similar to Delanie when he came out.
Like I said in my last post, what do you think the 49ers are trying to set up with this move? Due to the fact that they have so many big bodies that go out as a receiver (Boldin, Baldwin, Davis, McDonald)...it seems this might be overkill. Actually most teams attempt to get various types of wideouts, a big body guy, a deep threat, a quick slot type guy, ...

I think they love TEs. This is probably about losing Gray to the Browns when they had expected to keep him on the PS. That also explains why they are doing this now instead of through the initial waiver wire...they didn't know yet that they were going to lose him.

Walker wasn't a pure TE...he was a utility player who could do a bit of everything. That's what they were grooming Gray to be and that is probably what the plan is for Harper.
I have to agree. Losing Marquis Gray hurt, but looks like the 49ers got a possible replacement for him. I loved Delanies versatility and I really liked Chris Harper once I found out more about him via the 'Hawk boards.
