The only thing I don't like about any of this is that teams are allowed to interview coaches from teams that are still playing. That is bogus. Too many distractions from the task at hand. We should be refusing such requests until after we win the Superbowl.

So do we interview Rob Ryan to get ahead of the game? That is the second team and I am not saying we know if we loose Bradley but one of my employees were interviewing for other jobs he should understand that I am looking for replacments if he leaves....

It would be tough for the organization to deny requests if Pete is stating that he promotes the idea of having his coaches being recruited and getting a chance to be HC. I also think it is fair to allow the coaches to interview while in the playoffs. Why penalize them a chance to become a HC and reward those coaches whose teams didn't make the playoffs.

The league should freeze all hirings until after the Superbowl to put all coaches on an even playing field, but that isn't going to fly.

Gus' stock will rise with each win. I also don't see how it can't be a distraction at this point in the season. Every time I've been in a similar situation (promotion wise) it was all consuming and affected every thought process. Here's hoping that he is not ADD like me...lol

It won't because it will put all the new coaches and their teams at a decided disadvantage. They would have no time whatsoever to interview and hire all of their assistants before the regional combines and the national combine start.

The system in place today isn't perfect but it works pretty darn well.

I look at it this way. Having interviewed while in the playoffs other teams can see if a candidate is above allowing the interview process to be a distraction. It's kind of a test. It can reveal determination and focus.

Promote them to assistant head coach, this way we keep them or they get a head coach gig.
