Seems like a good thing for people who don't get NFLN. Hopefully this doesn't lead to more Thursday games, and continues as it is now, just an extra network airing them

CBS has such a poor picture for football games in the Seattle area. My guess is that KIRO is cheap and saves money by not devoting full resources to the picture quality.

Anyone that lives out of the area and isn't served by KIRO, how is your picture for NFL games on KIRO.

This should help raise the salary cap in 2015. New tv deals means a higher cap. Could help with Russell and Sherman's contract extensions.

More Phil Simms. I know twitterverse will love that. They cannot help themselves while giving old Phil the business.

They added an additional game, so two teams will have two Thursday games instead of only one.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...angement-will-create-a-problem-for-two-teams/

I was actually meaning more than the one game per week (except Thanksgiving) that they do. I think it's fine the way it is with one per team mostly...Denver and Baltimore had 2 each this past year and Denver didn't have a problem with it. The idea of having a thursday prime time game gives more fans opportunities to see their team play, at least for those of us out of market, but if you start putting multiple games on Thursdays it would be too diluted....similar to how they added the second MNF game in week 1 to make up for the final week. I still have never watched the early matchup on MNF week 1 and don't see it happening anytime soon either.

I see your point regarding more games per Thursday night, and agree.

However the opening game of the season is not included in the 16 Thursday games scheduled as referenced in the article I posted and does not cause a short week for those teams. Denver and Baltimore had the opening game, and then a short week Thursday game same as everyone else did.

There will be an additional short week game for two teams, tho maybe they will schedule it after their bye weeks. Maybe no one will care, just like no one cares about 10am starts.

Week 16 double header? Those better not be important games. Any game after week 12 better not be meaningful, imo.

If they scheduled both of them as away games then I could see it as a possible disadvantage, but if they make at least one of them a home game (I'd hope that if you have to play two they could try to make both of them a home game) then it really wouldn't be too much of an issue.

What I'd really like to see, which would help alleviate the situation is to be able to add players to the total roster. They can leave the active number the same, but allow for more gameday inactive players on the roster and it would go a long ways towards fixing a lot of issues that could arise from these short weeks

Lost in the news is some exciting developments: We're also getting Saturday football after the college season goes on hiatus before the Bowls.

Didn't they used to televise Sat. games toward the end of the season right before the playoffs?

From what I read they are taking over the Production, how that translates to where the games are as in channels I thought was still muddied, NFLN or CBS or affiliate station? I do know the NFL got like 250 million more for it being run by CBS.

Richard Sherman loves prime time games including Thursday Night ones, and so do I. Bring 'em on, and we need less whining from fans about it!

Can't wait to see some action on Saturdays, too. :)

I heard the same. Then I clicked on the link the OP provided and saw that cleared up....

In regard to Saturday games - awesome. Been waiting for that

They need to maximize matchups with teams on bye week for Thursdays. Should be able to do a few at least...

I was disappointed to hear this. I'm really going to miss Mayock's commentary during games.

Really? CBS has great quality for me. I kinda prefer it over fox

As CBS is usually an AFC affiliate program, would that affect the programming on the NFC teams? Or will the games be interleague matchups. Et al.... Afc/nfc matchups that are not conference related? Just curious.

But if you live out of the area then you don't get KIRO. And even if you are using antennae it is all digital now, so the channels are the same quality unless you're in the gray area where the picture goes blank at times. In the days of standard definition I remember 7 being one of the worst, 5 and 13 were the best.
