The way the roster has been shaken up mid season, does it give you guys hope that it's gonna force JS to rethink his talent evaluation?

I want MM to make MM a better coach first. Maybe actually do something with the talent he has.

Im sure MM wanted those LBers anyway. Perhaps they both need to reconsider what kind of defenders this team needs for Mac to succeed.

This wasn't going to be a playoff team. But I hope to see some legit improvement these last 8 games. Not so much in the win/loss column, but overall.
Just my OWN opinion, but I think people are being way too hard on the guy, and way too early.

Are you talking about John or Mike?

I agree, but I don't see people being hard on Macdonald. It's just low-level grousing for now. I see it as the expression of our own fears rather than outright criticism of his coaching. It's more along the lines of "Did we get the right guy?" as opposed to "This guy really stinks!" Things haven't even divided into two .net camps, as usually happens. At least not yet.

Nah, plenty are being hard on the guy, too early. Just my opinion. Shoot, it's the NFL. Coaches are gonna' get major scrutiny, it's how it works.
Call it what you want, I just see it as unrealistic expectations after 9 games on an average roster with a crap o line. That's all.
Nothing wrong with being concerned at all. I'm not worried about him. If they're still feeling like they are searching for an identity mid-2025? I'll def. be concerned.

If we had a Top 10 OL none of us would even be having these conversations regarding JS/MM.

I said it in the beginning of the season. This team/franchise is only going to go as far as their OL.

Without a doubt, imo.
Games are clearly won in the trenches. This team gets pushed around, a lot in the trenches.

That’s been an “IF” for a decade. The GM is INCAPABLE of building a top 10 o-line. Long past time to move on from JS.

I'm hoping Grubb can have some influence in future OL pickups. His background is as an O-line coach, hopefully he'll have some input. I get the impression that Macdonald doesn't regard either line as a low priority like JS seems to.

With a full off-season together John will understand what his coaches want. With a year under their belt, the coaches will have a better understanding what they want. It will get cleaned up. Mike has probably been in John’s ear since the 2nd play of the season, “get me some damn offensive linemen”

For job security, John Schneider needs to follow Macdonald around and learn. John will never become a genius like Macdonald, but he might just learn enough to become a better GM.

You're right. There is no way that JS could know that his head coach wanted a good offensive line. We might need years for him to get that message. I guess we agree as to how big of an idiot JS since he didn't already know.

So you're implying JS didn't try to fill holes on the line this past offseason? He didn't draft 3 linemen, sign a LG and C. They haven't worked out. I get it. He went in to the last offseason not knowing what types of linemen Grubb wanted. I'd even bet Grubb didn't really know coming from college. But don't say JS hasn't tried. With a full offseason together I fully expect JS to pour more resources into the line than he has in the past.

Every team wants a good offensive line. I honestly don't buy that JS wants the bare minimum at the position and expects to get by. Most offensive lines don't come together overnight. I know the line hasn't been good for 10 years. I'll give JS another 2 years. If that area is still at the bottom of the league then he needs to go in my opinion.

You are more generous than me. If I try to turn on a light and it doesn’t work I don’t keep flipping the switch a dozen times thinking it might turn on. I change the damn lightbulb.

If he completely neglected the line altogether I would be right there with you. He is going to be forced going forward to spend resources there. He is now finally hearing it from the media, fans and likely his coaches more than ever. Good lines are hard to find

I think Schneider was poisoned by Pete's "win forever" mantra.
I never believed that a team could succeed for a decade straight without a season to re-stock somewhere along the line. The seahawks succeeded longer than I thought they would, but the last 5 years we haven't been super bowl contenders and in hindsight it is apparent that one of those seasons really should've been a rebuilding season where *every* decision is made for the future, and losing is acceptable for that one season.

Schneider keeps making moves that alternate between "win now" and "win later" but that usually leads to teams not winning now or later. You gotta pick one.

If Schneider is unwilling to have that one season then we really do need to move on. Even if we get lucky and land our next good QB in the 7th round he would be playing behind a horrible OL that limits the team to 8 or 9 wins.
