They're only role models if you set them up as your role models. Personally my role models are my parents, my friends and people that I know. Professional athletes are entertainers.

Good for you, JSeahawks! Thanks for imparting your wisdom.

You know what's also entertaining? Bum fights and porn. But you don't let your kids watch those things, do you?

I'm with J, I love our players but I don't consider them role models except in a rare exception like RW, and even if he messed up I wouldn't play the role model card.

Hurting the team is a different story. Disappointed that this happened on the eve of such a big season, but the first time Irvin comes back and racks up a sack it'll be history.

But what if he really needs the Aderall?

Then he needs to clear it with or report it to the league or whatever the proper protocol is. It's a stupid thing to get in trouble for, from my perspective.

Still, all this finger wagging is silly. 22 year old kids who came from the hood aren't gonna always live up to everybody's moral expectations.

Only bum porn.

If your kids are going to get themselves into trouble because Bruce Irvin took adderol then you have much bigger problems to worry about then Bruce Irvin taking adderol.

Its not a big deal if this was an isolated incident. But when you have 5-6 offenses in two years, things need to be done to keep this from turning into a trend/epidemic.

Ok...He's a dumbass. Period.
And when was Moffit suspended? I can't recall that at all...
Also, Sherman never got suspended, so we can just STFU about him.

You're really sorry? How about you give back your paycheck. Then maybe I'll buy it.

C'mon.

What?

So were supposed to forgive and forget, despite this being the 5th or 6th such infraction on just this team in the last 2 years, because he took 5 minutes to type up an apology on google notes and posted a screenshot on twitter?

Why don't we just have a parade every time a player pisses clean.

Stop coddling the players, they're grown men and make multiples of your salary. They are role models in a very visible occupation. They SHOULD be held to HIGHER standards. Not given a pass for everything.

Good grief. They aren't elected officials. Do you hold actors and investment bankers to higher standards of character, too?

For those endorsing cheating, I sincerely hope you lose your job to someone who cheated their way into your position. You are everything that is wrong with the world. Go get a job on wall street or in politics, you freaking dirt bags.

I would rather lose with honor than win with regret. I hope that the front office feels similarly but that is highly questionable right now. If you think all of these suspensions aren't an extension of the culture at VMAC you are delusional.

Ruskell was a terrible talent evaluator who prized character over raw ability to the detriment of our team. But you can't keep ignoring character, like the Raiders, and expect to succeed. For every Percy Harvin, Marshawn Lynch and Bruce Irvin there needs to be 20 other guys playing it straight. Schneider is a young GM and still learning. He may never go Full-Ruskell, and I hope he doesn't, but I guarantee as his career progresses character is going to become a lot more important than it's been in recent drafts.

I love how you distill a complicated matter into an easily consumed little pill.

Again, this isn't an isolated incident. This is the 5th or 6th time in half as many years on just one team.

If the entire sport of Baseball can get a bad rep from a dozen or so bad seeds... what if 6 PED-heads were all on the same team?

Rather than post apologies on Twitter, don't take PED's and get a four game suspension.

Then everybody wins.

Sorry, but it's Seahawks-tinted glasses time for anyone who sees that apology and wants to shrug their shoulders at this. "All in" means just that. Not "All in apart from the four games I'm going to miss for a stupid, bonehead mistake." I'll accept his apology when he's clutching a Super Bowl trophy.

Well, adderol IS an easily consumed little pill... just sayin....

And the whole issue is simple to me. Either you can be outraged, or you can just shrug it off and realize life and football season goes on. Not saying one stance is right and the other is wrong. Personally, I don't care what the Seahawks do off the field. I don't care how they live their lives. I just want them to give 100% of their effort on the field. It sucks that he got caught and is going to miss 4 games, but i'm not going to kill him for it or think he's a terrible human.

As for baseball, it was a lot more entertainin when they juiced. Bring back the steroid era!!!

LOL... youre great at missing the point!

I am not asking them to be Russell Wilson and to tweet bible versus and go to childrens hospitals on their off time.

Hold them to higher standards as in... follow the rules, idiot. It's your kind of thinking that allows the rich (i-bankers) and famous (celebrities) to get away with a slap on the wrist.

Everyone jumping off the bridge over this is ridiculous. It sucks to lose him for 4 games, but he'll learn from it.

I'd rather put up with stuff like this and be good than go back to the Ruskell era and suck again.

No one is asking for Bruce Irvin to be killed or think he's a terrible human being.

He is, however, very much an idiot. And those that read his google note and swooned are just as stupid.

What SHOULD matter to you is the fact that this is turning into a distraction and impairs the team. You can not deny this as it's clear that Bruce Irvin helps the team more by being on the field than not. What SHOULD also bother you, if you are a fan, is that this is turning into a trend. You think having 5-6 players busted for PEDs is in anyway a good thing for this team?

The only thing he is sorry for is that he got caught. If he was truly sorry he would have admitted to it before he got suspended. Hated it when we took him and hate it just a little more today.

When the chips are down, am I right? The same people crucifying him now will prop him up as a hero if he finishes with double digit sacks. Such is the nature of fandom, I guess. I don't really get why people are taking this infraction so personally. You take the good with bad, and you take it in stride. I also expressed disappointment, but fans of THIS TEAM now calling into question the integrity of PC, JS and basically the entire locker room is an absurd overreaction to me. Whatever, it is what it is.

Right, and you're just as likely to turn around and call Brandon Browner an idiot if he gets suspended for 4 games in the middle of a playoff push.

Fact is, it affects the team, negatively. It's OK, as a fan, to not be happy with this. It's OK, as a fan, to want the FO to put an end to this trend so that the team can realize it's potential.
