Right, but to my knowledge you can't "try out" a player that isn't a free agent (signed to another team's practice squad). I could be mistaken though.

At this stage, no reason not to out right sign Freddy Swain off Dolphin's PS. Russ need a locker room bro, a WR that can play sand lot ball. Freddy checks both.

I didn't think from that angle, and you may be right. That said, for a player of Freddy's caliber, any chance to start ought to be treasured? Unless the relationship with Russ is so bad that Freddy rather waive the opportunity just to stay away from Russ.
