Bring in Joel Bitonio

I have wanted Joel Bitonio to be a Seahawk ever since he was in the 2014 draft (Paul Richardson) and now might be an opportunity for us to bring him in and have him be a mentor/coach on the field like Demarcus Lawrence and Cooper Kupp. This would give him an opportunity to play for a Super Bowl, while we would have the best O-line in football and could develop Beau Stephens. We could rotate in Anthony Bradford to keep Bitonio fresh. I expect that the price will be comparable to Fowler’s.

He is considering retirement from the Cleveland Browns, but we would give him the Super Bowl opportunity he has never had.

I’ll pass. Don’t see how a guy who will be 35 in October would add much at this point to the development of the o line. It’s been said often, by people in the know, that the best offensive lines have continuity with each other. They need to work together like fingers on a hand.

Going into the 26 season the offensive line with no changes looks like this:
LT Charles Cross 5th year
LG Grey Zable 2nd year
C Jalen Sundell 3rd year (2nd as starter)
RG Anthony Bradford 4th year
RT Abe Lucas 5th year

Yeah yeah yeah, I know. Bradford sucks. Some guys are good right out of the gate as rookies. Some guys are better their second year. Some guys take a little longer. As much as dot net and the entire Seahawks fan base complains about Bradford, he has been the starter most of his time with the team.

It’s not like they haven’t brought in guards to challenge him. Whoever they have brought in hasn’t been able to unseat him. Yet. They are bringing back all 13 offensive linemen that were on the roster at the completion of the 2025 season. In the draft they traded a 27 4th round pick for a guard in the 5th round. They have and continue to build this offensive line with youth.

A 35 year old guard pondering retirement isn’t going to help this offensive line. Youth and continued development will.

Cross and Lucas are signed for the next few years. Bradford is in a contract year, so we'll see about him. They just drafted a guy who looks like he could be a force for the next few years.

Not sure what your on to with Bitonio, but I think our current blend of youth and experience on our O-line is just fine going forward. Loving the continuity. I remember years when we were replacing 2, 3, 4 offensive linemen every season, and listening to everyone complaining how bad our line was. Right now, I see our O-line as a strength going into the '26 season.

It would just muddy the waters with someone that won't be around long. And we added more competition from the draft in Stephens. I think were good on the oline outside of extending Sundell and expiring contracts of depth (OC/OT) next season.

Maybe as a depth piece, not sure he'd be down esentially being a backup. Could be a chill last year or two with a really good chance at a ring though and easy pay check.

I would view Bitonio as an insurance policy for Sam. Every time I see Bradford pass blocking a premier DE I wonder if Darnold will be able to avoid injury.

I am guessing Bitonio is not in the Seahawks price range. The last contract he had with the Browns he was making north of $10 million per year

Could be wrong but kind of vaguely recall him being particularly stingy on where he plays location wise not wanting to uproot his family or deal with distance issues.
