Listening to the press conference today it sounds like they do plan on bringing Coleman back, but they needed his spot temporarily to stash another player on IR.
If you put a player on IR before they make the 53, as with Tyreke Smith, then they are done for the year. If the player makes the 53 as LJ Collier did they can then put them on the IR list and bring them back later in the season as needed.

Collier should've been cut too.....what a disaster that 2019 draft was at the top. This is why people worry about a rebuild even while they've done better the past couple of years. I hope Pete and John prove me wrong.
