We outdueled them twice regardless of Benny's offense

Key word DUEL. Which means their offense was performing at a high level.

Their offense was great, but their defense sucked... so we shouldn't consider hiring their OC? I don't get it.

No no, that's not what I'm saying. Don't get me wrong - Ben Johnson would be a tremendous fit in terms of our current roster. I just want to point out that he isn't an infallible sure thing.

If he comes here, he'll maximize Geno like he did Goff and any QBOTF will be in good hands. But we've beaten his offenses before... or at least, our offense beat Glenn's defense harder than his offense beat Hurtt's defense.
