I thought the NFL was going digital for yards of gain measurements?

Looked short to me on the replay but wtf do I I know.

Should be easy if the tech is there.

They did, thats why they recover the balls thrown into the stands. But its funny how they pick and choose when to use it. Why bother having it if they wont use it.

Ref on the O’s right side called it short

I'm almost thought MM challenged just as much in support of his D than thinking it would get overturned. If the game was closer, I don't think he challenges.

Not exactly. The ref still spots the ball, then they query the chips to see if it is across the line to gain. They don’t yet use them to determine where the ball is when the runner is stopped.

It won’t fix a bad spot.

So, an electronic chain gang. What a useless "innovation"!

It does save the time of having the actual chain gang come out, and is probably a step toward virtual spotting, but they need to have a system that communicates exactly when the play is stopped, to determine the forward progress spot.

That was a gimme spot for a team down double digits. Those calls are really hard to overturn. The officials know how to steer games to keto teams in them.

The spot isn’t digital just the measurement. The official spots it past the first down marker and it’s a first down.
