He got his bag, I'm sure he's not hurting one bit.. I can't believe he
fleeced the Cards for so much coin.
There's 2 for sure wins gone with him going out the door.

Granted the 2019 draft was weak on prospects, I mean we took LJ Collier at #29. But damn... Kyler Murray 1st overall?! And then Nick Bosa #2 and to still owe Kyler $36.8M for the 2026 season. Seems like the Cardinals have only had one good run in 50+ years and that was under Bruce Arians.
The Seahawks are 31-22-1 alltime vs the Cards and currently have a 9 game win streak against them.

It's funny, they're not even the St. Louis Rams anymore, much less the Cardinals.

I know that I'm in the minority here, but I think Kyler Murray can be a decent quarterback in the NFL. We hear that he has a bit of an attitude issue and a work ethic problem, but he has loads of talent and he hasn't played on a decent team.

Not elite, and not even top-10, but could be decent on a very good team. For example, I think the Vikings win 11 or 12 games with Kyler. But if he ends up on the Jets, Browns or Dolphins, forget it, it will be just like it was in Arizona.

My question is whether he'll compete for a starting job. He's been handed status so long he may feel entitled and that'd be a huge red flag given all the other concerns. Otherwise, there's always Subway commercials....

An ignominious end to the QB contract frenzy that fever-brained GMs embarked upon in the Summer of '22. The Browns, Broncos, and Cardinals richly deserve the consequences that they willingly signed up for. ☠️

...and f**k the Dolphins, Packers, and Jaguars for signing their QBs to 4+ years of rolling 2-year guarantees as well.

Very well said, I was shocked that year.

I've posted quite a bit about Murray over the years on another site. Here are the key points:

Over the last 4 seasons Murray is 41-27...in game-day appearances. The Cardinals were 16-25 in those 41 appearances.

He'll have 4 consecutive years of: a sub-95 passer rating, passing at sub 7 yards per attempt, and a sub-230 passing yards per game average.

In his first 4 'most healthy' seasons he was only able to fully practice all week and then play against the Rams in 1 of the 8 scheduled meetings between the teams.

The choice is between keeping Murray for 2 seasons at $78,887,500 or cutting him now at $36,800,000. If another team is willing to pay Murray more than the $42,887,500 difference over 2 seasons then a trade should be possible. If he's not worth $21M+ per year then cutting him would be the best of 2 bad options.

I don't know if there are claw-back clauses in Murray's contract. Most teams use them to prevent double-dipping and that would give back to the Cardinals any money Murray earned above veteran minimum salary with another team in 2026. Effectively that would mean Murray could only earn NFL minimum wage. However, there is only $7.2M of dead money in future years that could be accelerated into the 2026 cap if he is traded or cut, so it wouldn't make much sense to designate him as a June 1st cap cut. There is potentially an upside to that for Murray. Hypothetically, if his market was between $10M and $20M and he was prepared to pay for less than that he could potentially negotiate a new 'release' contract with the Cardinals. For example he could agree to a $30M 1-year contract, (a $6.8M pay cut with no claw-back clause). That would benefit the Cardinals and allow Murray to earn more than $36.8M + minimum wage, (net).

This is just an analysis. I don't know what Murray would be worth as an NFL FA.

Maybe he’ll go to the rams

Honestly, I want to see Minnesota Kyler. I want to see KOC stick around in Minnesota and cycle through other teams' failed QBs for awhile in general. Just turn that whole organization into a walking science experiment that exposes which players or coaching staffs were frauds all along for our amusement.
