Who's ready for the next multi-year backup that turns into a Pro Bowler?

Richardson was a TERRIBLE pick in the first round. He was a project and everyone knew it. With the Colts signing Daniel Jones, would you be interested in him for a 5th rounder?

He was my draft crush at the time, but I made it crystal clear I did not want him seeing the field for at least a year or two. The Colts probably ruined this kid, but yeah, I'd still take a late round flier on him.

I'd pass. He has potential if he can figure out how to complete more than 50% of his passes, but he's pretty bad. A lot of people wanted him here, so glad he never made it to us and that's not just hindsight talking.

I was ferverntly against him in that draft because no shit he wasn't anywhere near ready. But he's getting to the point where his ability is lining up with his value. I think the Colts are fully moving.

Sam Howell was never good and will never be good.

I wonder if we would have taken him over spoon if available at the number five. I do remember Carroll and Schneider being pretty high on him

Some team will make Jalen Milroe this year's Richardson and take him in round one.
Did you see he ran a 4.38 at Alabama's pro day? Some fanbase is about to get absolutely rocked.

I didn't see that. I just knew he was a freak, but yeah, now that you said that it's a guarantee he goes in the first round.

I think Richardson has been bad to this point because he doesn't love the sport. He is a phsyical freak, makes throws that maybe no one else can make and is possibly the biggest running threat we've ever seen at the position. Most times guys who don't love it never make it. But as a backup for a late round pick? I would do that in a heart beat. Maybe he has a change of heart? I'm not convinced they want to give up on him yet because of his crazy upside but its possible.

I like the idea of sitting Richardson for a couple of years.

I also liked the idea of drafting Richardson high and sitting him for a year or two. This belief that all QBs drafted high must immediately start is short sighted.

Isn’t it still the general consensus that we would have taken him had he been available at 5? He seemed like the kind of guy who would enamor JS + there was the photos at Floridas pro day that got attention.

I was salivating at the thought of picking a QB because we don’t see #5 very often.

Things could have been very different had Lovie Smith (HOU) not gone for two in week 18, but I’m happy we landed Spoon.

A link to Hawkblogger interviewing James Boyd who covers the Colts for the Athletic it starts with the Fries signing than to Anthony Richardson who was benched for not taking notes and later in the season takes himself out of a game because he was tired in addition Richardson’s passing completion percentage was south of 50%

Is it really?
Their contract pays more each year and then the 5th year option.
Year 6 it's either you sign him to a new deal for big $$$ or use the
franchise tag and then do a new deal.
All this for some QB who has been playing for only 3 years and shows
something but needs more experience.
The Colts didn't ruin AR, he's a man and supposed to be a pro.
He is limited with weaknesses that you cannot coach up, just like many
QBs that get over drafted and never hear from again.
