The only thing I wanted out of this FA period, as far as external signings, was for the Hawks to pick up Dalman OR Fries. That's it. It would have put so much less stress on us going into the draft. We have all this f#% cap space and John still couldn't do it. And don't tell me "maybe they just didn't wanna come here." Bull. Money talks. You offer them significantly more than the next closest team, especially if you have all this cap space and this glaring of a need. And if they still don't wanna come here after that, you are horrible at selling your organization. What kind of recruiter are you? John Schneider is failing at his job and I cannot wait until he is no longer our general manager.
I am with you on this one. Very disappointed how free agency has transpired so far.

You jettison you're starting QB and WR2. Could have incoming offensive candidates question the philosophy.

Can't help but wonder if Schneider's previous comments are coming back to bite him in the @$$. If you were a guard, would you want to play for a team whose GM believes your position is overpaid and overdrafted?

I didn't get the memo where you can make a Free Agent sign with you. You can offer all the money in the world and they have that right to choose where they want to go.

I doubt any of them care that much. Getting a good offer would fly in the face of that idea anyway.

John had one job to do. Be aggressive as hell like the Bears were with regard to this achilles heel of ours. He had the resources. Either he was too cheap again or he sucks at selling his organization to potential free agents. My guess is it's some of both.
Maybe he was aggressive, and dude just chose to go to a better team for killer $

You're just assuming the worst, and that's fine. I'm tired of the O Line not getting addressed too. But to assume he didn't try is just silly.

It was proven Seattle was in on Fries, that's a massive overpay though. I think in the FA 2025 thread I posted some team offered Dalman a lot more money than what he signed for but he really wanted to go to the Bears. We can speculate if that was Seattle or not but chances are it was.

Maybe this new staff has some guys on the roster and in the draft they feel they can work with.

Plus, there's still a lot of options out there. Some better fits than others. Just relax.

The sky is not falling
Come on man. This is dot everything sucks.

Sure seems like the same ol' bullshit, doesn't it?

More significant overreaction and men crying like babies and creating drama like teenagers in this thread. JFC grow up.

It would have been an egregious overpay on a guy coming off an injury that you can’t even give a physical to until tomorrow.

I’m all for spending on the OL but that deal is dumb and can backfire so bad it could ruin the entire rest of the off season.

Again, if it's not just about the money (which I find hard to believe with 99% of athletes) then he is just bad at selling what he's building here.

I think I’ve seen this before….hmmmm reminds me of the last 10 off seasons with Schneider!!!
I'm honestly losing hope at this point that it will ever be addressed/fixed. It's becoming a farce.

Shit I may just root for the Raiders this year, why not? :)

He's only 26, one of the league's best guards, and very few injuries truncate careers like that anymore. You gotta take a gamble at some point, and what we're currently doing clearly isn't working.

Yep let's let all the top end FAs walk right past us with the 5th or 6th most cap space. Maybe we're gonna draft some more convertable Dlinemen, try that experiment again. Should work out fine. 👍
It actually wasn’t bad -

I will say watching the emotional fanboys (not the gals so much) melt on the regular used to be sorry and sad but now it’s more entertaining for some reason

He may have liked Minny better than other places - nothing can be done about that - all the handwringing in the world won’t change it now

All I know for sure is the team has more than ample millions in available cap and 5 draft picks in the top 100 and 5 more after those. If JS can't fix the OLine with those resources available to him his tenure here needs to be carefully reassessed b/c it appears he misjudges or misperceives the OLine market and has failed genuinely or realistically to deliver there since arrival in Seattle.

Sometimes you just need to go big or go home.

Perhaps this sounds whiney and while I recognize and know it's very early in the process, the problems with the OLine have continued for far too long for it not to be seen for what it it is a blind spot or an inability to judge when you do need to pay.

Perhaps the above poster is right. Why would you want to come to a team where the GM has said he undervalues interior OLinemen. OTOH Fries may have wanted to go with his teammate to a higher potential offensive program in Minnie.

However, it's still very early,

If he just liked Minny better, that's fine, I was responding to the thought that his injury made him too risky to pursue.

The plan is becoming clear: sign Brandon Scherff to the same contract Tomlinson got last year, 3rd round pick on a raw guard from a basketball school whose best competition was Holy Cross and Bucknell, 6th round guard, and then to reach the cap floor, free agent offers to Amari Cooper and Harrison Smith.
The things you say, you’re hyperbole gives you away, the things you say…..you’re unbelievable

Not sure If want that contract but, I’m beginning to think that Seattle is becoming a ‘less than desirable’ place for players.

We’ve really mishandled some situations (such as Wagz being released).

QB wanted out. WR wanted out.

We’ll see what JS and MM have up their sleeves.

Have you not read the memo that this board is for emotional decision making only?
