Basketball has many more teams making the playoffs which in the end is what matters.

The system is fine the way it is. Don't add teams and don't change the format.
It worked for us at 7-9 and the Bucs were 10-6 on the outside looking in. That's the entire point in having divisions.

Obviously I want the Niners in the playoffs, but you have to admit there would be a certain symmetry to Seattle having to go and play the Saints in NO in the first round of the playoffs.

The only way the niners are gonna be in the playoffs is if they buy tickets to a playoff game.
