CJ Prosise’s replacement.

:ditto:

Did read this tidbit though:

"He's got good football character and kept running hard for a mediocre team." -- Pro personnel director for AFC team

Just read he can so it all but the line jack of all trades and master at none is a bit concerning.

Draft bio from NFL.com:

"Overview
Dallas was a high school quarterback who came into Miami as a receiver and converted to running back during the 2017 season. The production is modest and the instincts are a work in progress, but there are flashes of run-lane feel and downhill smoothness that could be a sign of future development. He has size, speed and a surprising amount of pop as a finisher. His contact balance makes him hard to bring down through contact, but he needs to improve his open-field wiggle. He lacks third-down readiness, but his special teams talent should make up for that. The traits and toughness make him an intriguing upside prospect on Day 3."

This is a punt and kickoff returner pick solely

Good move we needed that

"Solely" to start with

He's a little guy. Plenty of smaller RBs have been tearing up the league though. Not real excited about this pick after reading his NFL profile. I'm a dumb-dumb though, so maybe he will transform into a perennial pro-bowler.

Edit: Okay, he's not that little. Common height for a running back. I stand corrected.

I'm not sure I concur, he looks like a slower bruiser type to me.

He certainly fits the physical and character profile. Also, he was a hell of a punt returner last season.

A smart player and leader who was a quarterback in high school, Dallas signed with Miami as an athlete. After beginning his Hurricanes career as a wide receiver, an injury to starting RB Mark Walton in 2017 necessitated Dallas moving to RB to back up Travis Homer.

Dallas listed at 5'10" 214 lbs. Ran 5.4.

I don't know if he has the speed for that job in the NFL.

5'10"/220, so not real small. Interesting he played behind Homer.
Found this:
“The best pass-protecting back in the draft class in my opinion,’’ Jeremiah said during his NFL Combine analysis. “His game is about vision, balance and power between the tackles. And then again, when you get in passing situations, [he’s a] 217-pound back that’s aware and can really, really pass protect."

Watched some highlights and he was not afraid of contact between the tackles and had a lot of runs after first contact. He showed some good balance staying on his feet after contact also. I’m liking this pick.

Yeah I suppose that is pretty bulky for a 5'10 frame.

Sounds like he's still learning to be a runner.
Definitely not a lot of mileage on him; something to be said for that.

Intriguing...
