The Madden curse...60% of the time, it works. Every time!
LOL @ Yahoo Story.ivotuk: "Ahem! Cough! Ahem! The reigning 'Defensive AND Offensive Player of the Year!' Jaxon Smith-Njigba
I like the tweet (below) from Canaan Smith-Njigba.
{Remeber Brewski? My bad, Druski? He's the supposed cameadeann that got paid to mispronounce Jaxon Smith-Njigba's name. Best $5 that advertising agency ever spent.}
Following Canaan's tweet is a Yahoo story about who should have been on the Madden Cover. If "John Madden The Great" were alive today, he would been enraged that Jaxon Smith-Njigba wasn't on his cover.
Note to NFL: Spellcheck followed by Cut and Paste are these new-fangled inventions that prevent major embarrassment's to those trying to "Protect the Integrity of the Shield". If you need someone who is an expert at such, and that has dictionary.com under their bookmarks, I'm your man.
"End of Line"

The NFL quickly collected a fine for the dunk celebration, then used those same images for promotion.
The Offensive Player of the Year was turned into a comedy segment with Druski, minimizing an award earned through elite performance and hard work.
NFL Honors never acknowledged the poor representation of one of the league’s top individual awards.
The “prestigious” ceremony didn’t even air the pre-recorded acceptance speech.
After months to prepare and ship the award, the only offensive player selected received a Defensive Player of the Year trophy.
At some point, professionalism, respect, and attention to detail should matter.
STORY FROM YAHOO:
Who should’ve been on the cover of Madden over Caleb Williams?
Williams is undoubtedly on the path to NFL superstardom. That said, it feels a little early for him to be awarded the cover of Madden.
Consider the players that have previously been dubbed the cover athlete over the past decade: Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey...Barkley and McCaffrey each were placed on Madden after winning Offensive Player of the Year.
If we’re putting any 2024 first-round pick on the cover of Madden, shouldn’t it be Drake Maye?
The Patriots’ quarterback burst onto the scene in 2025, leading the NFL in completion percentage (71.0%), yards per attempt (8.9), passer rating (113.5) and QBR (77.1) while helping New England average the second-most points (28.8) and third-most yards (379.4) per game throughout the regular season. While Maye has only logged one true season where he was considered among the league’s best, he has a clear leg-up on Williams, having finished second in MVP voting behind only Matthew Stafford (who we’ll get to in a moment), and leading New England to its first Super Bowl appearance since the days of Tom Brady. –Mike Kadlick
