Getting 14 points against Jacksonville is pretty sick. Vegas thinks Jacksonville is going to be just as bad as Seattle is going to be good.

And honestly, I'd take that spread.

So I take it that the numbers don't represent the point spread?

Panthers +3.5 means the Panthers would need to be given 3.5 points to be even money with the Seahawks.

I understand how the point spread works, but didn't know...

Another fun way to look at it is, given the convention that home field counts for 3, the Hawks would be expected to beat anyone on their schedule on a neutral field.

Can we put this thread in the HoF now? Sig worthy. Always amazes me that people who have any real interest in football don't know how to read a spread.

I don't really care if someone knows how to read a spread. I never gamble so I didn't know how it wored for a long time. But it was funny that he thought the information was wrong and pointed it out I guess.

Thats funny, because the way it was written out on here is exactly how it is written out on Fox Sports and the other sports sites right? :th2thumbs:

Maybe I am missing something, but according to your listing of your games you are not favored in 7 of them. Basically all of your away games.

Seattle Seahawks at Carolina Panthers (+3.5)
Seattle Seahawks at Houston Texans (+1)
Seattle Seahawks at Indianapolis Colts (+4)
Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals (+6)
Seattle Seahawks at St. Louis Rams (+4)
Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons (Pick)
Seattle Seahawks at New York Giants (+1)

Only if you're wearing your "Homer Glasses" does this appear the way you're seeing it.
Of the two teams mentioned the first one gets the + or - in the parenthesis.

OR, whomever vs. Seahawks ( - 6) = they have whomever losing to the Seahawks by 6
IF however it shows whomever vs. Seahawks (+ 6), they have the Hawks losing by 6

the only time it wouldn't be represented this way is if you are only mentioning one of the two teams, or in some cases, picking a team against the spread.

Thanks for clearing that up! I'm not a gambler and I've never seen a spread before so couldn't get the hang of it either!

I don't believe I've ever seen a Seahawks season schedule prediction even close to this.

Also pretty amazing that SF has basically the same prediction. We're going to split with eachother and maybe lose one more game each.

So in that tie breaker, divison record would be a wash...what's next, points differential, or points scored ? (Assuming conference schedule is a wash). that would be funny....both Pete and Harbaugh running up the score on the entire NFL to win the tie breaker. Lol

That would be awesome, except for the fact that we would be risking the health of our starters in week 17 until the end of the fourth quarter...other than that it would be one hell of a show!

next tie breaker if every game-matchup is the same is strength of victory. So add up opponents each team has defeated, and whomever had stronger opponents wins.

Wow. This is insane. I've never seen Seahawks team get this kind of Vegas love.

Thanks, BFS.

Early season spreads like this will obviously change as the season plays out, so I need to make a quick trip to Nevada.

Here you go, this might clear it up a bit. I have never seen the point spreads written out that way as well. The point spread posted NEXT TO THE FAVORED team no matter if they are home or away that week.

No.

Think of it this way... the spreads above apply to the team listed last.

And every listing above wherein Seattle is NOT the team listed last, except for the Atlanta and SF games, the number is positive, meaning that team is the dog.

As a non-gambler also, I appreciate this thread.

Question: How often are these listings updated throughout the season?

If I remember correctly, they start filling in by tuesday of the following week. Same as the power rankings.
