They've been trying to fix the OL for the last three years and they will continue to do so.
However.... The money saved from not paying Geno could go a long way in that regard.
Like I said, draft a QB on a 5-year rookie contract and bring in a vet like Zach Wilson on the cheap.
The worst-case...
Geno Lovers' Rationale the last couple of years...
2022 - We need to fix the OL
2023 - We need to fix the OL
2024 - We need to fix the OL
2025 - <---We are here.
Geno Lovers' Rationale the last couple of years...
2022 - Geno is just a bridge QB
2023 - Geno is just a bridge QB
2024 - Geno is just a bridge QB
2025 - <---We are here.
Seahawks have drafted seven O-Lineman in that span and picked up five more through free agency.
Now, here we are once...
I prefer a QB that is on a 5-year rookie contract or a young QB that has plenty of upside.
Use the 25+ million we save on some other positions.
Unfortunately, Geno keeps playing just good enough to keep the Seahawks from picking in the top 10 of the draft.
I want what Washington has. I want...
Geno is not going to get better, but he will get older every year. Let it go, man.... He's old and gun shy.
BTW.... I would take Nix, Daniels, Goff, Burrow, Mayfield, Carr, Jackson, Maye, Stroud, Herbert over Geno any day of the week.
I prefer a QB on a 5-year rookie contract like Washington, Denver, and Chicago are doing.
Sick of hearing about the OL and a bridge QB every year since Russell left.
I thought Broncos got the worse end of the Wilson deal but in reality, they are in better shape than we are going forward.
Wilson is young, mobile, decent size (6'2" 218lbs), and has a great arm (See Link). He had almost the same career path as Geno.
Former No. 1 pick...... Drafted by the Jets.... Abandoned by the Jets. Might as well follow Geno here.
Plus, an entirely new offense will be installed again next year...
