The younger generation doesn’t understand how good we had it…

I'm sure you're right. In addition, there's something to not seeing someone as a person with a face and a real name. In person, there's a sense of common humanity. We wouldn't typically insult someone. Doing online doesn't feel as real. It doesn't feel like there's a human being on the other...

The younger generation doesn’t understand how good we had it…

I wouldn't be surprised. The underlying issue is that people react to their ideas being challenged as if they're being physically threatened. Which is what makes political discussions so fraught. The amygdala, a structure in the brain, reacts as though we're being threatened, as if there were a...

    Geno Restructure?

By the time Pete was done, I think he well deserved to lose his job. His worst season in the NFL was 6-10 with the Jets. I think it's fair to say he kept his teams had a reasonable floor. But he made all sorts of boneheaded decisions, on the field and off, plus he didn't keep up with the game...

    Geno Restructure?

Well, Pete was the defensive guru who couldn't cobble together a decent defense that wasn't completely predictable in the last seven years . . . so yes, he had to go. John is behind the scenes so we fans have no way to evaluate.

    Geno Restructure?

Exactly. And it's convinced me that Pete wasn't the only problem in the front office.

    Geno Restructure?

Geno? That might be the dead cap if you cut him before the season. Shedding his contract that soon, I don't think it could be spread over two years. But if you don't cut him early, then his guaranteed money kicks in for 2025. Honestly, I think we're still trying to move him. Rob Staton just...

    Geno Restructure?

Yes. I've set that aside under the heading "young and stupid" (as I was once young and stupid, whereas now I'm merely old and stupid). Seemed like a couple of young jocks who got into a pissing contest that got out of hand, so to speak. At that age, given the competitiveness of young men, it's...

    Geno Restructure?

Well said. Please place me in the long-term camp. Which is why I'd like to move on from Geno. I really like the guy. He seems a true team player with a great work ethic. Things I admire. In other words, other than the drunk driving, I admire everything I've seen of the man. I'd like to see him...

The younger generation doesn’t understand how good we had it…

You sum up my perspective well. A diversity of opinions is a good thing. There's a richness when we see things differently. Then we can learn from each other. I don't know why some seem to feel threatened by opinions different from their own. I don't get the need to call others out as "wrong"...

    Geno Restructure?

I don't look at it that way. But I know most people agree with you.

He was also playing heavy. I assumed to try to limit injury but it seemed to slow him down. This last season, he played slimmer again and was faster. Not the guy he was in 2020 but closer. No longer a top 5 to top 10 QB but decent. Not sure why Payton's chasing him out of town.

    Geno Restructure?

Sure. I remember that. But he didn't leave because of fans. He left because he wanted to win another Superbowl and he thought Carroll was holding him back. Obviously, that wasn't true. I'm grateful he forced his way out because he had lost a step. We were lucky to get the haul we did.

Russ ran himself out of town. Demanded a trade. Pete didn't want to let him go.

    Geno Restructure?

I'd not be any happier with a Wildcard loss. If he leads with the kind of competence that makes this team a Superbowl contender, we'll of course reconsider. But that seems unlikely. Even under Grubb and Macdonald.

I agree with you on all fronts.

Yeah, those were some miserable years. Talk about stuck in the dumps with no way out. Worse than our recent experience getting stuck in purgatory.

Good luck getting any NFL team to deliberately tank. The players and coaches have too much riding on their success. I wouldn't mind if it happened though because we'd get a good shot at a real impact player. Just don't want to become one of those franchises that does miserably year in and year...

The younger generation doesn’t understand how good we had it…

Yes, I've lived in Portland, Seattle and Bellingham. All share this feature. I've been in Bellingham now since 2010. I have a couple of good friends here but one moved up from Seattle and I've known her for more than 30 years. The other I made in the last few years. It's a strange thing...

I hear ya. Like I said, I'm from New York so I like direct. Here in the PNW, people tend to be very nice at the surface but there can be a lot moving just beneath, and then a lot of distance. That's not my gig. I try to keep my language clean but I prefer it when people say what's on their mind...
