Ernest Jones IV has knee surgery

Just posted this in another thread. I think this is potentially good for the Seahawks side of negotiations, assuming this surgery was as minor as the news reports suggest it was. Jones definitely isn't going to be able to set the market for LB contracts coming off of any kind of surgery, which...

    NFL Free Agency 2025

I was going to say 3 years, $45M total (just below what Baun just got), but I just saw this: https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/seahawks/ernest-jones-iv-had-offseason-knee-surgery-potentially-delaying-seahawks-deal/ Which, I think, probably drives his price down a bit.

Lockett cut, DK requested trade, Geno?

Ok, play with me here--let's say we trade DK to the Packers for #54. Then we go into FA, sign Nick Westbrook-Ikhine for 3 years for what we were going to pay DK for 1, get Marquez Valdes-Scantling to fill in for Lockett for like $2.5M. Or we trade DK for Packers round 3, plus like Romeo Doubs...

Lockett cut, DK requested trade, Geno?

We'll see, but I'm not getting so negative yet. I think having the Tyler news coupled with the DK request on the same day has made people really conflate these two things into a complete decimation of our WR corps when the reality is we only have one big thing happening, which is potentially...

    Abraham Lucas update

Hey! Some good news today! I'll take it.

    DK Has Requested a Trade!

My question is, with Tom Brady on ownership coming from that history with how the Pats did business, is he going to be ok with signing a $100M+ contract for a WR? Because I'm pretty sure that's what's going on here. (I mean, we could wait and see what other moves are made, maybe the team has...

    NFL Free Agency 2025

Probably some. EJIV's contract value was projected to be just under that (like a 3 Year 15ish thing), so Baun getting not much more after winning a Super Bowl probably helps put a ceiling on what Jones/his agent are thinking he can get. It is, however, one less viable replacement on the market...

    DK Has Requested a Trade!

I'm very mixed on where I think Seattle should go if DK doesn't stay. I think my opinion on what they should do with Geno would change very little (extension, with most guaranteed money next season, a moderate commitment for 2026, very little-to-nothing tied up in 2027) but my outlook for the...

    NFL Free Agency 2025

In house, our priority has got to be Ernest Jones IV. Additionally, I think Jarran Reed should be back as well. We could also look into Roy Robertson-Harris on a better deal (as some others mentioned in the thread on his release). From New Orleans, I'd like us to consider bringing in Marquez...

    DK Has Requested a Trade!

I personally, want DK to stay. I think what he brings as positives are the type of things you can't easily replace. (He's also my son's favorite player). My personal hope is that this is a move by DK and his agent to try and work some more money out of a deal--and hopefully, they find that not...

    DK Has Requested a Trade!

I think it's too early to know this. No call has been made on Geno's contract and the OL has been a multi-year issue. If we cut Geno as well, then, yeah, we are in full rebuild mode but right now all we know is that DK requested a trade. My bet is this almost entirely about money, but we'll...

    DK Has Requested a Trade!

The DK thing is big, but Tyler was a WR3 who was getting paid like a WR1. Losing him didn't create a 'hole' (except in our hearts), that was the right move to make, football-wise. Potentially losing our WR1 is a completely different ball of wax and needs to be evaluated separately.

    DK Has Requested a Trade!

Damn, didn't see this coming from his side at all. If I were to guess, I'd say extension talks did not go the way he hoped. DK is in the unfortunate spot of being uniquely gifted in ways difficult to easily replace but also lacking in some key areas that prevent him from being one of the true...

    Seahawks release Lockett

Saw it coming but still sucks. An all-time Seahawk. Looking forward to the day he comes back and raises the 12th Man Flag and the day he returns to see his name in the Ring of Honor.

    Seattle releases players

I think this is true. Whether they plan to cut Tyler or not, it won't be announced in a dump with a bunch of other players. I still think he's gone (due to the realities of WR3 contracts), but we'll see. As for the list of cuts, no big surprises. I wouldn't have been surprised if they kept...

    Re-sign Ernest Jones now!!!

Yeah, the NFL puts ILB and OLB as the same for Tag purposes, which is nuts in terms of how different the pay scale is for those spots, making it near impossible for teams to franchise tag good ILBs. But the only thing that's going to matter in terms of whether Jones gets re-signed or not will...

    Kurt Warner Weighing In Again

Just to be clear here: Pocket Time does not measure time-in-the-pocket-before-pressure. Pocket Time is average time in the pocket before either pressure collapses the pocket or the ball is thrown. And since even the most beleaguered offensive line still prevents pressure on 60% or more snaps...

Rams give Stafford permission to seek trade

I expect Stafford to say with LA as well, though a couple of analyst folks have said this looks like talks are getting worse with LA. Stafford's leverage seems to be limited though. He's got 2 years left on this contract; he's not going into the final year. Also, he's got almost no guaranteed...

Rams give Stafford permission to seek trade

https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2025/2/21/24370363/rams-matthew-stafford-trade-rumors-teams Interesting. Two interpretations of this move is that: 1) This is an actual deterioration of talks between the two sides and chances of Stafford returning to LA just took a big hit. 2) Rams are using...

salary cap going up - can we keep Geno?

If his asking price is reasonable, we can. If it's Patrick Queen money, I think we could do it. If it's Roquan Smith money, I think we'd probably let him walk. The other question I have, though, is 'Does Macdonald think he's a top 5 ILB?' The change we had in the middle when Jones got here...
