    MacDonald riding with Geno

This is the crux of the issue, though: It's not a waste if you think he can take the team somewhere, and as you mentioned, some people do. Matt Stafford was brought over to the Rams at 33, had only 1 Pro Bowl to his name, only went to the playoffs 3 times (and was 0-3 in that span) in 12...

    MacDonald riding with Geno

The offseason before the 2005 season, most of the talk about Hasselbeck was about Matt re-signing, as the QB controversy had passed. (The controversy between whether he or Trent Dilfer should be the starter was in the seasons before.) But it is an interesting point of comparison because it shows...

    MacDonald riding with Geno

Of course nobody knows, but tanking is about intention, not knowing for sure. Heck, Sam Howell could get bit by a radioactive spider this offseason, and all of a sudden be the most unstoppable player of all-time... or he could quit playing football altogether to go fight crime in New York City...

    MacDonald riding with Geno

Picking to run with a worse option at QB because you know you'll lose more games and thus increase your draft spot is tanking. Of course, the players aren't going to tank. That hurts their bottom line, let alone professional pride. But going 'let's run with Howell and hope we get 5-7 wins'...

    Bears get Ben Johnson

Hopefully everything with Fraley now moves rather quickly. If the Lions or Bears want him to be their respective OC, I imagine we'll hear news about that relatively soon and that'll let us know whether we are still in the running for the guy or not.

How culpable is GM John Schneider?

I've asked this before but rarely see a clear answer: It's easy to count the number of 'great' picks Schneider had and go 'well, I think there should have been more' (hindsight being what it is). My question is, during Schneider's tenure as a GM relative to other GMs picking in similar spots...

    No huddle offense…

Yeah, Daniels has been really good against the blitz, so that was kind of shocking. I decided to go back and rewatch the Commanders last game vs. the Eagles (well, at least when the Commanders were on offense) and a few thoughts: It's ridiculous Washington won this game but the failures on...

    Ravens vs Bills

Yikes, another Baltimore turnover. That's a really bad moment, too. Could be a killer.

    No huddle offense…

Hard to say. Mixed results during the regular season. The first game against Philly was probably one of the worst overall games for the WAS offense. The second game, Philly forced a LOT of turnovers but still lost and Daniels did much better outside of the INTs. (5 TDs) Philly approached the...

    Ravens vs Bills

There seems to be those random games where an NFL officiating crew is trying so hard not to be that crew that throws a lot of flags to the point where they become controversial for not flagging even the most obvious stuff. And this crew throws on the one big flag they threw was for a hold that...

    Ravens vs Bills

Rooting for the Bills (kind of) due to proximity, but honestly don't care either way. If Allen or Jackson don't choke, either team should be a favorite against KC which is the only thing I really care about.

    Rams / Eagles

Just a temperature check, everyone here is aware that the Seahawks have a better pass rush get off time, better QB pressure rate, and better QB sack rate than both the Rams and the Eagles, right? Because it feels like everyone thinks it's the opposite.

    Rams / Eagles

Hmm. Eagles should consider handing off to this Barkley fellow more often. He seems like he might be good.

    Stroud on the Zebras

Mahomes gets those calls because he works the refs, like James Harden and Lebron James in the NFL. He flops, he looks to initiate let contact, etc. and he's the poster boy of the league right now so refs are worried about getting it wrong. No conspiracy theory really needed... it's still trash...

    Rams / Eagles

Is it? Verse looks like the best player on a bad defense. Everyone gives the Rams so much credit (they got Verse as soon as Donald was gone! Life's not fair!) and then ignore that their defense isn't very good. Interior pressure is more disruptive than edge pressure. Edge rushers get the stats...

    No huddle offense…

Very valid. In addition to not being able to substitute (unless the offense substitutes as well) during the actual game, if a team knows you often run no-huddle they have to prep for that in the week before differently than they do other teams. That's practice minutes working on defensive...

    Commies vs Lions

They didn't respond to the bye well but I think the biggest issue was falling behind. They couldn't lean on their run game any longer. In retrospect, the game was decided on that fumble by Jared Goff in the red zone. It was the snowball that started the avalanche.

Apparently Ben Johnson loves Sam Howell

This is very true, he should've been using the running game in that situation and given Howell time to get his feet under him. The problem, though, with that game is that it reinforced the read on Howell coming out of Washington. The big knock on him was that he can't adjust to NFL level...

    Commies vs Lions

Lions run game is something else. Creative stuff there, too. It's just hard to know to discern what Fraley's game looks like separated from Johnson, you know? We thought Waldron was going to be bringing that McVay offense to the Seahawks and, well... that's what interviews are for, I guess.

    Commies vs Lions

Just in case it couldn't be more clear what level of coddling Mahomes gets compared to other QBs in this league, just look at what Frankie Luvu did to Goff on that pick 6 that didn't even get a flag. Luvu might have gotten ejected if he did that in KC. Fun game, though. Teddy Bridgewater gets...
