Chris Matthews needs to see some game time

Matthews may have practicing inconsistency problems, but it is now clear to me that the bigger problem is with his coaches, who kept hook out of the games, until Pete over road then, and ORDERED them to play Mathews in the Superbowl, where he was arguably the offensive MVP of Seattle.

Chris Matthews needs to see some game time

MVP 53, Matthews has already been consistent in the two games he has been targeted. Why do you think that practice is a better predictor than games?

Chris Matthews needs to see some game time

Hawkstorian, I recall that Matthews caught one nine yard pass after Browner switched to him, thus occupying Browner, and exposing the defense to the next tallest receiver. Do you have evidence for your claim that Browner shut down Matthews? I don't yet have evidence beyond my almost positive...

Chris Matthews needs to see some game time

I read some comments by the coaches saying that Matthews needs to show up mentally every day at practice, instead of just every two or three days. This, if true, would explain why they do not count on him. Sad, because at six five, he is immediately open for high passes. Perfect for beating...

Are we really a run first team anymore?

I believe that the proper metric for answering this question should be snaps, and not yards gained. Either the differential or the ratio, or both, for first order approximations. For second order approximations, use the expected values of yards gained running versus passing, compared as...

Are we really a run first team anymore?

I am just interpreting that Pete has said over the years, plus taking into account his player resources.

Are we really a run first team anymore?

Balanced means equal, as in equally weighted. Unequally weighted scales to to one side because they are not balanced. His goal is balance, but he does not always have the weapons to achieve balance.

Are we really a run first team anymore?

No we are not a run first team, and I doubt that was ever our goal, meaning Pete's goal. It may well have been the average fan's goal. Iirc, Pete has always wanted an evenly balanced attack. Even balance maximizes defensive uncertainty, thus maximizing offensive efficacy.

Michael Bennett on his decision not to hold out

Nice summary. I like the thoughtful ones.

    Was Frank Clark active today?

That line injures players on purpose, and we need Clark later in the season, and in the playoffs.

0-2 Would Not Be The Time To Panic.

I agree that the season will turn out fine, even though we could easily lose to the packers, although I expect we win.

49ers fans jump Vikings fan after MNF

Marvin, Perhaps ban the gang colors other than the official team items. Perhaps ban fighters etc for life with fingerprints, facial photos recorded to make it stick, install facial recognition software for real time identification and entrance denial. Require ID to buy a ticket to attend...

49ers fans jump Vikings fan after MNF

There is no leadership to do something about it. Alas, there is only "exploitership" already working full time.

49ers fans jump Vikings fan after MNF

The root of the problem is a subset of fans who define part of their identity with their hate for their team's competitors. It would be far better to define themselves with their love for their team, and not hate the other team at all. In fact, the hawks are not much without other strong teams...

Should Kevin Pierre-Louis move to Strong Safety?

Iirc Pinkins played strong safety at San Diego state, and the hawks experimented with him at cornerback to see if his hips were sufficiently fluid for the Seattle defense. Pete said at the time "We already know he can play strong safety.". I think he came in to camp a little heavy, closer to...
