If Hawks and Pats lock horns in the SB....

Carroll vs. Belichick would be the ultimate showdown.

    Yeah, I would say so.

From the Cardinals? That was mostly outside pressure from Calais Campbell (three sacks), Larry Foote, etc. The Rams bring much more pressure from the inside. Partially that has to do with schematic differences between the two (3-4 vs. 4-3). But mostly it's about personnel - Donald and...

    Russell Wilson - MVP Discussion

My top three would be J.J. Watt, Richard Sherman, and then Aaron Rodgers, who appears to be limping into the playoffs. Watt and the Texans still have an outside chance to make the playoffs if Baltimore and San Diego lose. Sherman is shutting down receptions in a way that has not happened in 20...

    Two challenges against the Rams

    1. Pass Pro - The Rams racked up a season-high 17 pressures in their win over the Seahawks in Oct. Aaron Donald and Robert Quinn had a field day against our beat up offensive line. They need to do a better job getting Lynch involved with the running game, so as to take some of the pressure off...

    Mike Williams released by Bills

Buffalo is loaded at receiver with the emergence of Robert Woods and the drafting of Sammy Watkins. There was no reason for them to pay Mike Williams a big contract with two talent receivers on rookie contracts. They seemed determined to play those younger guys over Williams. I would love to...

Beast Mode runs side by side

It looks to me like he's gained back some of the weight he lost during the off-season. While he is certainly lighter than he was last season, I can't say he looks slimmer or faster than he did from 2010-12. That's just what tends to happen as we age. I think he's made up for it though with...

Beast Mode runs side by side

Very interesting seeing these plays side by side. Marshawn is not as fast or fluid as he used to be . . . but his vision has improved over the years. He also looks bigger and stronger than he did four years ago. He's not just running through tackles (although he still does more of that than...

Against the Cardinals, they could afford to sacrifice pass blocking for superior run blocking because Arizona does not have a great interior pass rush (i.e. Dan Williams and Frostee Rucker are run stoppers first and foremost). That calculation changes against the Rams because Aaron Donald and...

Lewis is a better run blocker than Jeanpierre. The gamble paid off. That said, I would prefer to see Jeanpierre start against the Rams to neutralize their interior pass rush.

Most Dangerous playoff matchups for the Hawks?

Dallas, Detroit, and Green Bay are the three biggest threats in that order. Arizona has way too many issues on offense. Even with Stanton back, they are going to have trouble scoring points against the better defenses. I imagine they would be an underdog at Carolina, for example.

    Prefered playoff opponents

This is probably the best case scenario, unless Detroit beats Dallas. Then we would have to face Detroit in the divisional round. IMO, Cowboys, Lions, and Packers are the three biggest threats in that order. I think I would prefer to see Detroit secure the No. 2 seed; that way it guarantees...

    Sympathy for Saints Fans

Saints fans are great. I do feel a little bad for them.

    Lateral Damage

You don't see it at all (except as a last gasp desperation at the end of a game) because of the ball security issue. A lost fumble would not only negate the big play, it would also give the opponent great starting field position. This was attempted by Reggie Bush after a big run in the 2006...

    Okung Should Practice this week

Bailey is an improving run blocker, not a really good run blocker. Tom Cable has talked about this many times, as recently as last week. The difference between Okung's run blocking and Bailey's is significant.

No. 1 seed (and other playoff discussion)

    Cowboys vs. Colts

Hass is slinging the ball a hell of a lot better than Luck was . . . he put that 4th down ball right on the numbers to draw a PI.

    Cowboys vs. Colts

Luck is playing like trash. And Colts have three yards rushing . . . on 6 attempts . . . 0.5 yards per carry.
