Taking a Break from the Lock vs Geno QB Controversy

Marino would be an absolute beast in today's game. He, Elway, and Namath are probably the best arms I've seen.

Taking a Break from the Lock vs Geno QB Controversy

Here's a video that shows the mayhem that existed in the NFL back in the day. And in case you are wondering, with a few exceptions, the hits in this video were legal back then. The level of abuse QBs used to endure was truly amazing.

    Good News on the OL

Here's another article. One thing I noticed during the Washington game was Leonard Williams and Jarran Reed playing DT with Dre'Mont Jones moving outside to Edge. In fact, it was Dre'Mont Jones who was burned on that wheel route by Brian Robinson at the start of the second half. According to...

    Good News on the OL

OL Getting Healthy It looks like Jason Peters is rounding into shape and played well enough to move Stone Forsythe to the bench. It also looks like Abe Lucas might be available soon. Given the defenses the Hawks will be facing the rest of the year, having a healthy OL is very good news. Now we...

Insight Into the Negativity on This Forum!!

Personally, I've never been any good at predicting the future so I tend to focus on the current facts. For example, it's a fact that the Hawks are 6-3, which is tied with the 9ers for the third-best record in the NFC (behind the Eagles and Lions). They also have two games against the 9ers and...

    Our Second Bye

I actually thought the defense played well against a very good offensive team. I know the defensive stats are ugly, but that's going to happen when your offense has more punts (7) than first downs (6) and the time of possession is 19:56 to 40:04. The NFL is a league of adjustments and the...

Does anyone think this is a playoff team?

Seattle is absolutely a playoff team. The Seahawks are a good team with a very good defense. The problem today was they were on the road against a legitimate Super Bowl contender with probably the league's best defense.

    1984 Seahawk Secondary

I honestly think that team would have made it to the Super Bowl had Curt Warner not blown out a knee in the first game (against the Browns). The Hawks never were able to generate a running game that year and had to rely on Dave Krieg for their offense. Krieg threw for 32 TDs but also had 24...

    Thoughts on the Lions Game

Here's an article from Corbin Smith talking about the Hawks' tight ends. An interesting read. https://www.si.com/nfl/seahawks/news/seattle-seahawks-will-dissly-colby-parkinson-tight-ends-offensive-importance

    Thoughts on the Lions Game

I agree, but the NCB will be interesting to keep an eye on. The team seems to be committed to Love, so my guess is he gets the first shot at NCB once Adams is back. How well that works is an open question. So far his coverage has been a bit hit-and-miss.

    Thoughts on the Lions Game

I thought Brown was erratic (good: pick-six, forced fumble on the last play of the first half, pass breakups; bad: getting beat on the last play of the first half, getting beat for TD) but the real problem for me is his tackling (or lack thereof). Some players like the contact and some don't...

    Thoughts on the Lions Game

Great win for the the Hawks. Given what happened against the Rams, I thought the Hawks showed great resilience and perseverance on the road against a talented Lions team. I just rewatched the game and here are a few thoughts. With all due respect to the Hawks' WR, RB, and QB, the real strength...

Great Breakdown of all 3rd Down Conversions by Rams

The takeaway is to expect other teams to run trips bunch sets against the Hawks until they show they can defend it. https://www.si.com/nfl/seahawks/news/seattle-seahawks-pete-carroll-third-down-defense-struggles-film-study-los-angeles-rams

Coby Bryant named starting nickel corner by Pete

So...when Witherspoon and Adams are healthy they replace Jackson and Bryant?

So...Our base defense is a 2-4 this year?

I agree. But to me, the real key for this to work is a healthy Jamal Adams. He's the one that can blitz, play in the box, or play the robber position to deal with the underneath crossers.

    53 Man Roster Set

So...The big surprise is no surprise. It will be interesting to see who moves on and who ends up on the practice squad. According to Pete (from an article a few days back), the focus will be to sign our own players to the practice squad versus looking for players around the league. Hopefully...

So...Our base defense is a 2-4 this year?

One thing it does do is reduce the number of DT on the field, which is one of our weaker units in terms of depth.

So...Our base defense is a 2-4 this year?

I've just finished reviewing my recordings of the preseason games and the Hawks were primarily running a 2-4 with an NT and a 3-Tech on the strong side. With the OLBs on the line, it looks more like a 4-2. I don't have access to all 22 so I'm assuming the extra DB is a Safety, but that may...

    Lock Looked Pretty Good

I completely agree. He still seems to have at least one throw that leaves you shaking your head (like the sideline throw to Bobo against Green Bay that should have been a pick six), but overall I like what I'm seeing this year.

    Lock Looked Pretty Good

Actually, I'm pretty sure the Packers had a lot of their first stringers in for most of the first half.
