Gene Steratore to be head ref at Green bay

I think he's considered one of the best refs in the game. So that would be good for everyone involved.

    A call to Kearly

A couple of good posters have already started random-thoughts-type threads: http://www.seahawks.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=113534 http://www.seahawks.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=113639 I believe Kip has replied with some thoughts on at least one of these threads. And as the poster above mentioned...

Your Viewing Pleasure for game 1

Yeah, it was a little tricky for me, too. I was a subscriber last year (without the student discount), and I kept getting redirected to the non-student site even when I didn't seem to be logged in. Eventually I switched browsers and it worked, so it could be that you need clear cookies to stop...

    Who the hell is 93?

Re: having two fullbacks on the roster. Remember, Tukuafu can also play DT in a pinch, and Coleman is regarded as one of the best players on special teams. His absence on ST last year was sorely missed, more so than his absence at FB. It's not always about the listed position on offense or defense.

    Who the hell is 93?

Splash plays have a way of catching people's attention. Carroll specifically mentioned that McGill was freelancing too much, so it's not surprising that he didn't make the final cut. Obviously it would've been nice to have kept him on the practice squad, but oh well.

    Who the hell is 93?

Jaye Howard. Chiefs fans seem to really like the player he's turned into.

    BJ Daniels the QB

Anyone else like BJ Daniels way better than RJ Archer as the third quarterback? The offense just seemed so much more effective with him behind center than Archer. A big part of that I think is Daniels' ability to run the read option, but I thought his passing ability was decent as well...

    Frank Clark

Good thing there are separate awards for offense and defense! Voters won't have to choose between them.

Hawks should impose a deadline w/ Kam

As a regular follow of Hsu, I strongly disagree with this characterization. Does he speculate? Sure. But it's pretty clear when he's giving his opinion versus stating a fact or relaying information he's heard. Plus, he's a fan like the rest of us, so I think he can be forgiven for engaging in...

    Pressure is on Russell Wilson

Well, since you mentioned the last 5 games including playoffs, how about the playoff game against Carolina? He was superb.

Amari Cooper just made Patrick Peterson look like a fool

It's true that Peterson riles up Hawks fans in the same way that Luck does, since both those players have obvious comps on the team. The big difference is that in Peterson's case we're 100% right. It's telling that Cards fans will admit this. Colts fans would NEVER in a million years suggest...

Seahawk Roster Cuts & Other Transactions 8-31-2015

The picture is a little more complicated than you're painting. According to NFL.com game logs, the starters at center last year were as follows: Weeks 1-5: Unger Weeks 6-8: Schilling Week 9: Lewis Week 10: Unger Week 11: Unger (this is the KC game where Unger went down) Week 12: Lewis...

    Golden Tate

Tate was certainly underrated in Seattle, and now that he's in a pass-happy offense, I think he may be a little overrated. If I'm not mistaken, his efficiency stats with the Lions are roughly the same as they were with the Seahawks. He just has a lot more targets now. That said, I thought it was...

    The "Seahawks Hangover"

I read the article earlier today and was pretty disappointed in the analysis. He should've looked at something like DVOA, which adjusts for opponent quality and is a better predictor of future success than simple win-loss record. And there's really no excuse for not at least comparing to a...

Britt practicing at left guard, Gilliam at RT

Britt has struggled in pass pro at RT, but I think at least part of the reason for the switch is their dissatisfaction with the competition at LG. My impression even before the first preseason game was that they weren't too happy with the way the position was coming along. Britt projects well to...

The Trade (Unger & Anthony for Jimmy & Lockett)

True, but part of the reason we've only made 2 first-round selections under the new CBA is because JS keeps trading them away. Of course, the talent in the late 1st isn't much different than in the early 2nd, but if JS really valued the 5th-year option (arguably the only real difference between...

The Trade (Unger & Anthony for Jimmy & Lockett)

There is some speculation that GM John Schneider dislikes the 5th-year option because it makes it more difficult to structure contract extensions the way he likes. If you look at the the way the Seahawks have done extensions the last couple of offseasons, it's clear the priority is future cap...

    Notes vs Denver.

I think so too, but it worries me that the first game of the season is the worst possible matchup for a young O-line with growing pains.

    Notes vs Denver.

I sort of think the opposite, i.e., this makes him a relatively good fit. For the last couple of years the passing game has functioned with receivers who, outside of maybe Baldwin, struggle to separate but tend to win at the catch point. I'm thinking of jump balls to Kearse, Tate, and even...
