Seahawks have #2 offense in the NFL per DVOA

I guess you haven't checked the news since 1890.

    Even Chewbacca is Hawk fan

Is it bad that I thought this was about Pam Oliver?

    Patrick Lewis

The way they handled the center situation this offseason and preseason was just baffling to me. I don't mean that I disagreed, I mean that, to an outside observer, it was just plain incoherent. When they traded Unger, didn't they specifically name drop Patrick Lewis as a potential replacement...

Our Path To The SB Is Clear To Me

Assuming it all shakes out that way, we'd face Carolina in the divisional round unless the 6-seed upsets GB at Lambeau, which I find unlikely.

Seattle Seahawks O-Line, and Entire Offense, improving

Very good point. Joseph has been officially ruled out for Sunday's game, which is a big blow to the Vikings run defense. For more discussion about the Vikings banged-up defense: http://www.hawkblogger.com/2015/12/vikings-star-linval-joseph-out-sunday.html

Seattle Seahawks O-Line, and Entire Offense, improving

Pittsburgh's defense is underrated this year. By DVOA, they're actually 16th, while Minnesota's is 14th. This is even after the beating the PIT defense suffered last week. I do think Minnesota has fewer glaring weaknesses (PIT's defensive success is very much in spite of a terrible secondary)...

    Tharold Simon

Who else would you have used it on? Players on IR-to-return are not allowed to return sooner than 8 weeks, even if they are healthy before then. If you don't use it by week 8 or 9, you don't get the player back before the end of the regular season. They had no one else to use it on at the time...

What is the real difference between Willson and Graham?

Couldn't disagree more. Jimmy's soft hands have been a revelation this year after two years of watching Willson's stone hands. (To be fair to Willson, I think he's improved in that area.) Jimmy had one bad game against Arizona but otherwise he's been phenomenal at hauling in passes his way...

    Tharold Simon

He was put on season-ending IR to fix a toe that kept dislocating. The IR-to-return (each team only gets one) was used on Brock Coyle, who should be eligible to return soon.

What is the real difference between Willson and Graham?

There are a lot of little things that go into making a good receiver. Graham does those things well. Willson does not. Hands are one part of that, but there's also route running, body positioning, etc. I also think Graham is a better blocker. He seemed very motivated to prove he could be good at...

Update: Jimmy Graham out for year; patella tendon

I definitely did a double take when I heard that. Graham isn't exactly a great blocker, but he's somehow managed to be the best blocking TE on the roster. The only thing Willson has on Graham is straight-line speed. Sucks that we lost him, and on a personal level I just feel really bad for Jimmy.

    Rawls Is MANNNNN!

Actually, isn't it supposed to me, "Rawls is MANN"? Or am I remembering that incorrectly?

    What I am afraid of...

I'll make the most generous interpretation of this statement: you're worried that a strong finish will convince Pete that the team doesn't need fixing in the off-season, when it clearly does. I believe this concern is off base, and not consistent with what we've observed of his tenure so far...

    The Portland Trailblazers

There's no question this team is not nearly as good as last year's. No one expects them to make the playoffs, even under the most optimistic scenarios. But, the 6-game losing streak aside, it hasn't been the dumpster fire that many expected. The offense has been surprisingly effective. That...

Seahawks move UP to #5 in DVOA Rankings, there is hope!

I figured the Hawks DVOA for the game would be respectable, since they kept it close and there's a very large opponent adjustment for playing the Cardinals. What I did not expect was how lopsided the VOA was (i.e., before adjusting for quality of opponent). 39.4% for SEA versus -23.1% for AZ. I...

The Seahawks are just like the Steelers, so don't panic

This is absurd. Which law of the universe says you can't focus on a particular era of that franchise's history? Given the importance of the QB position, it's perfectly natural to talk about the historical arc of a franchise during a QB's tenure. People do it with Tom Brady and the Patriots, Drew...

ESPN Article: 10 Worst NFL Contracts (2 Seahawks)

He was an honorable mention, but probably should have been on the actual list. Especially over Flynn, who shouldn't have been on the list, let alone in the top 5.

    The Portland Trailblazers

Detroit looked like a good team coming in (beat some good teams on the way to 4-1), so I didn't necessarily expect the Blazers to win. But the way they imploded like that was just... irritating.

Which game will you be most interested in Sunday?

Because they lost to both teams, they would lose any 2- or 3-way tiebreaker with GB and CAR. If we win the division and somehow end up tied with both at the end of the season, the order would go CAR-GB-SEA. At this point, CAR is a heavy favorite for the #1 seed. GB likely will get the #2 seed...
