What can we do to fix our defense?

#1 - Lack of talent #2 - Pete does not change system to match strength of players #3 - We need to ACTUALLY GO INTO NICKEL COVERAGE instead of playing over-matched LB's against 4.4 WR's #4 - Switching DC's will do nothing. It's Pete's system, and Norton doesn't cost us with crazy blitz calls or...

Some of you really don't understand how Pete operates

Which play calls do you have in mind that were "Putrid"? I re-watched the game and almost all of the play calls were pretty logical, and far from anything I was consider terrible. I've witness Bevell and Schotty call some pretty terrible mind numbing plays. There weren't any bubble screens on...

Some of you really don't understand how Pete operates

That's the thing though, if something is working... The run game was working. 98% of all head coaches in the NFL probably would have called that play or at least considered it a good play call option, with Carson running the way he had been. So I think you might have been in the minority on that...

Some of you really don't understand how Pete operates

You seem to be a very black and white type person. I have criticized the coaches plenty. This game was not an example of what people are saying it was. That simple. Yes PC is too conservative. Yes PC sucks at in game adaptions. Yes our defense plays looser than a free hooker. But. Those were...

Some of you really don't understand how Pete operates

Pete does rely far too much on an elite defense he doesn't have anymore. Normally, I'd be fully with you that I am tired of playing it so conservative. I just don't think this game is a good example of it. The offense didn't execute in the second half, and the Falcons adapted on D. Unless you...

If it was not a fumble, don't you mean if they had called it incorrectly?

Agreed. Onside kicks have an extremely low percentage of success since the rule change they are almost impossible. If they would have recovered it I would have agreed they were "on the brink" of losing. But onside kicks fail far too often to consider it "on the brink" of anything.

We all want the Seahawks to win. We don't always agree on how to go about that. Simple. No need to make it personal for either of you.

    Ruminations on the Falcons Game

Agree with pretty much everything except for Hooper. I have not seen anything from him super special. He basically seems like their version of Willson.

Exactly, I don't think it was as conservative as people thought, we just didn't execute. Most of them were smart plays where if you were sat down in a vacuum and asked which play was the best for each situation you would have agreed.

As far as I remember they were calling pretty similar plays in the second half as they were the first half, some of Lockett's big catches were in the second half. They had an 8 minute drive that ended in a field goal because the players didn't execute and were faced with a 3 and out. The...

    Clowney

I really hope we sign Clowney. I am almost thankful though that while he effecting the opposing offense a lot, he isn't putting up crazy sack numbers. Maybe that means we can let him test the market and save a little $$ in signing him. Some other teams really value those sack stats.

Britt out the rest of the year.

Judging how the O-Line market and FA signing have gone for other teams over the last 5 years, even being just 'average' I would sign that deal again in a second. And pay him the 12 without batting an eye.

Typically, I would agree that PC should not be so conservative. However this year, with this talent we have on defense currently, I think going conservative is the smartest thing we could do to win games. We generate almost zero pass rush when we only rush 4, and I can just see it now, we decide...

    Let RW run the offense

The only audibles I saw he checked to in this game didn't have the best results. I don't think it should be all-in for either the OC or Russel to run the offense. There is a reason for having both, they just need to find a good balance. For this last game the announcers commented multiple times...

It’s time to talk about the LB group being an issue

I think if we were to get back to putting an extra DB back on the field when the situation called for it (you know like normal defense is supposed to be), the perception of our linebackers would change dramatically, and they wouldn't be doing anything different. They are currently being asked to...

    Marquise Blaire

I think Pete just said for his aggressiveness, I don't think he ever mentioned a specific position but your probably right that was the intent. Realistically though we have been playing a lot more a cover 2 ever since Earl left than we ever have. I just feel like Blair has shown way more...

    Ruminations on the Ravens Game

    - If we stop stubbornly keeping 3 linebackers on the field and actually bring in another DB when the situation calls for it, I think the perception change would be astonishing as to how well our LB's are doing. They are asked to do more than any other LB group in the league. - The replays didn't...

    Marquise Blaire

Does anyone know why he has not gotten the chance to start at free instead of strong safety? Do they view him as too slow? Is it not a natural position for him? I feel like Blair at FS and McDougald at SS would be the best combination of personnel we have to put on the field at the same time. I...
