Hell yeah Cross can handle Garrett. Myles will have to work against our tackles and Barner is considered the best blocking tight end in football. Outside zone to keep Garrett honest and off kilter

Nice video, thank you for posting. When I started this thread in 2023, I thought and hoped that Cross could use his athleticism to counter Garrett's quickness.

Yeah...not sure where that one came from.
You simply run routes to take advantage of aggressive pass rushes, run directly at him, or completely away etc. Players that move on like Garrett commonly burn out after the initial excitement of going to a good team. Let him come out with excitement and wear him down just like any other player. PS, would be nice to have Walt at LT, He and Gray would make him cray.

I assume you saw the vid I provided, right?
This is why I'm confident that the Hawks will "handle" Garrett.
Not just because Cross can keep him in check but because MacDonald will help scheme things (with Benton) to also keep him in check.

Cross is rated better than Williams at this stage their career considering age difference. As good as Garrett is they lost a freak in a much younger Jared Verse. The chances of the Rams going through the season with a healthy Stafford are 50/50 and their schedule is daunting. They'll be lucky to win 11 games tbh

I’m not saying Garret isn’t great…he is imo. But, 11 sacks vs three teams or something like that?

Cleveland has done some super dumb sh*t in the past but imo, they won this trade.
Cross will handle Garrett just fine.

Its good to be that kind of fan for your team. The Superbowl gives you confidence in your team. But this league can humble you very fast. It ain't easy maintaining a top tier defense year after year. If you have a very good quarterback and good playcaller you can maintain a good offense year after year. Is Darnold considered very good? Is his playcaller good? The only dynasties I've seen in my time had great quarterbacks. Joe Montana. Tom Brady. Patrick Mahomes. I can't put Darnold anywhere near that category.
Put a TE on his side to help out. This coaching staff knows what they're doing.

I couldn't care less where you personally would put Darnold.
But to answer the questions you asked....
"Is Darnold considered very good?"
Answer : After having back-to-back seasons of helping his team win 14 games, then yes. He is VERY good.
"Is his playcaller good?"
Answer : We'll see. But so long as Fleury uses the same type of offense that Darnold excels at, that's all that matters.
Oh and hopefully we won't see any stupid trick plays like Kubiak tried early in the season.

...just to be devil's advocate here and add to discussion:
If we're including 9rs with Montana, probs include Cowboys with Aikman. I think the argument can be made already that Darnold is as good as Aikman was even if he hasn't got all the accolades yet. I'm saying Darnold has all the personal attributes Aikman did.

Still a way to go before he's on Aikman's level. But Troy def. had a LOT to work with.
Yeah, we're already big on 12 and 13 personnel and our new OC should only further that tactic.
