Bringing this back 2 months later because it’s becoming a hot topic again after the Browns moved some money around on his deal end of last week and appear to at least be positionally make discussions happen…

Im usually not ever a fan of building a team of high cap eating free agents… but I’m not going to lie the thought of Garrett lining up on the edge with Leonard Williams next to him, along with Murphy/Reed and Lawrence combos… OMG… that would be a fairy tale.

This isn’t two months old, this is last offseason. Besides with all the chatter about wanting him last year I think the defense did an ok job without him.

I think off-season boredom is kicking in for the media but I will bite...2 firsts and a late draft pick.

Nobody knows how a 1st rounder will do, but we know this guy is a monster!

He is going into his 10th year, so there has to be some wear and tear but man, 23 sacks last year?? WOW!

Absolutely you pull the trigger on this. Not just because he will make this defense the #1 defense again, but every team will be scared to face us again just like it used to be with the LOB. There were multiple teams that weren't afraid of us last season despite being SB winners and even still there are some today that aren't scared. If you want a dynasty, eventually you're going to have to pull the trigger on a generational talent in his prime to get there, and those late 1st round picks seem VERY worth it to me.

People forget did he do that on his own or did he get those numbers due to the rest of the defense making a offense have to play straight up on him, he is or was ultra skilled so being able to show domination is something you can have for a while past your prime, he is in that area of his career. I would not reach for him and give up future success for a one year rental.

I simply searched the topics in the forum on Garrett to bring the most relevant topic back to the top instead of starting a new thread.

Fair enough but….

It’s not a two month old conversation, it’s well over a year old.
I’d suspect you’d be fine starting a thread, probably better off as long as it has some new/relevant information.

They gave up Verse??? That is really dumb

I mean a great upgrade for the Rams of course but why give up one of the best edge rushers in the game?

All in for this year, and next. I’m assuming they were in a bidding war with us, and the only way they could win was to package Verse. At least that’s the story I'm going to tell myself, to comfort myself.

And if that is true, I love the Schneider was able to force them to pay that much.

Now the question is...is one guy enough to sway the win/loss record when we go against the Rams?

If so, Maybe a couple of first round picks would have been worth it.

Regardless, man they must be scared to be making moves like this.

They have to get their SB this year because their roster is a mess next year.
