I don't understand this take. Last year he had 92 targets and netted 687 yards. Three season ago was his best at 715 yards. That's not top of the market by a long shot.

He's shown his value as a returner, but he couldn't even overtake Kupp on the depth chart this past season. Would you give $30M/per for a return specialist?
Shaheed was *extremely* mediocre as a WR for the Hawks, but he was much better with the saints. The way FA usually works is some team is going to pay him for how good of a WR he was with the saints, and how good of a returner he was for the Hawks, even though those two performances didn't happen at the same time or on same team.
Someone is going to grossly overpay Shaheed, and it shouldn't be the Hawks. We have JSN to pay, and IMO even an injured (but playing) JSN is better than a healthy Shaheed.

No but if they didn’t win, he would be gone

But they won, he earned another year.
He is overpaid but he brings value
All they have to do is add Kupp to the coaching staff and his money arrangement canbe much more managable, even if his chooses to be a player/coach.
I see the balance regarding Riq value leaning to the bye bye side. Keep Nuoso. He is too good to give up and might see value inrestructure. Mafe has not been consistantly good. I remember though, when people were trashing my man Hall while waving flags for Mafe. Now the opposite is happening. Mafe has faded. Let him test the market and decide if he like Seattle better than the other choices he gets.
I very much liked the Horton pick. But he came in with injury history and and he got injured. I expect that has a high odds of happening again given his physique. Sign Rasheed. This draft is not good enough to trust your luck.

I don't see the production, even with the Saints. The fact that he was a WR2 in NO too, should tell you that he's not "top, top" tier.

Meanwhile, 710 ESPN hearing rumblings that the Niners are going after REEK. And his contract prediction (wherever he ends up) is at 4 years, 78 million.

That's just the bourbon talking through Lynch after we made something out of Darnold & Saubert, then beat the 9ers soundly in back to back wins on the way to winning the SB in their stadium. Then we stole Fleury to be our OC.

It's a lot really. Can't blame him for lashing out and trying to "steal" Woolen or drive his price up on us. Just the 3rd & 17 conversion would be enough to snap a guy's mind.

Can't wait to see his expression when JSN burns Riq worse than a Forest Fire.

Lynch would be like :

The whiners only have 22mil of Cap space according to Sportrac. They would have to work some magic to make that happen...However,
If I was the Seahawks?I would offer him something similar in dollars and years but the guaranteed money would be about 35mil and heavily back loaded. If he stinks after year 2
Send him packing.

Both Kupp and Shaheed had contributions last year beyond just numbers alone. Along with his help bringing along JSN, Kupp made some clutch 3rd down (and a TD) receptions in the playoffs. That Ram game was close enough that maybe the Hawks don't win without it.

This is me repeated what was said by people who know x's and o'x more than me, but Shaheed being on the field helped the running game, forcing teams to play their safeties back due to the fear of him running by them.

Can't keep everyone, it's just not realistic. Hopefully they figure out a way to keep Sheed and K9

He was a damn good receiver with the Hawks in the NFCCG. Initially he lacked the targets due to JSN and Kupp but the go route against the Rams was a thing of beauty. Good ball by Sam though

7-10 a year, cool. Esp. with how much the cap is jumping. Anything more than that? No thx. And I really want him back on the Hawks. Dude is a game changer.

Again, there is NO chance someone pays him 17-20 a year. That sounds like a Staton take, yes, that bad.

Yep, you were finally right about something. And I flat out already posted that I was wrong. I'm stoked he's back.

Go back to your regular scheduled programming of blasting the team at every chance you get. It's impressive.
This isn't a victory for you Debbie.

Looking past this year, I don't think it's a stretch to say this is Kupp's last year with the Hawks. I don't see us redoing his deal this year to push money out to the future when that cap space will be needed for extensions

If these figures are not accurate, someone please make a correction.
As of today March 13, we have 42M in cap room and it will be about 8M to sign our draft & we will need an emergency fund of maybe 6M.
Call it 15M draft/emergency$, 42-15=27M..

So we have around 27M to spend on FA's and to restructure our own players.
That should be a good thing but what's left of this FA pool seems underwhelming and it might be a year too early to extend JSN & Spoon.
How do we spend that $ and make a difference?
IMHO, our needs are CB x 2 or 3, RB, RG, edge rusher.

There are about 6 FA OG's still out there,
J Bitonio34, C Paul27, W Teller31, S Burford26, D Faalele26, M Becton27.
It seems that having the cap room it would be smart to throw another RG into the competition.
Especially with a low draft slating, only 4 picks and knowing we will likely draft two CB's.
We should improve our run-game through the line as well as the ball carrier.

Also wonder if we should look at CMC's backup Brian Robinson Jr.

I bumped this thread up from page 2 to get everyone's input on how to spend this little surplus of cap room. I think this off-season is going well and we rarely find ourselves in such a good situation, besides the lack of draft picks.

OK here's $2700, grab a cart, welcome to Walmart

Addition by subtraction is a real thing. The Hawks saved at least $40 mil in cap by letting Walker and Woolen walk. A lot of shit can happen before the draft i
