I will happily and freely admit I wanted John gone years ago.
I and others felt, with reason, that many things of the team were failing and not being addressed with the Oline being a major one of them and some of the asinine trades the team has made over the years.
This past offseason I was positive on the DK and Geno trades but felt that JS was once again failing to address his biggest weakness, the Oline, in free agency. His comments the previous year that interior linemen are overpaid and drafted too early still ringing in many fans years after a decade of ineptitude at the position.
This draft I was nervous.
After the dust settled I think John dusted off whatever made him great in those first five years as our GM and locked in. This draft was more than a knock out, it was probably one of the best drafts Seattle ever had.
The team didn’t just get good players, they didn’t just get great value at who and where they drafted. For the first time Seattle drafted 11 guys I feel like could not only all stay on the team but contribute now.
Zabel was a lock and he’s gonna help change the culture of our offense line, Emmanwori, seen as a Top 15 talent at 35 is once again another player that is gonna change the attitude on defense and make it nasty. Arroyo, a fringe 1st round talent when healthy is a machine TE that greats immediate mismatches. Milroe, though raw in some aspects, has immense athleticism and could be molded into a better QB and better an X factor.
Without going through every pick, those ones alone do so much for the team and the rest are just an awesome group of young men that are high on athleticism, high ceiling of development, and many are diamonds that were overlooked due to previous injury concerns or character issues.
Seattle saw that, saw the talent, and Mike and John said “Get me than man.”
I have never been so excited for a draft class. Is it September yet?
