Your draft pick grades

Honestly never paid attention to the draft class or really even the draft. So give your expert opinion on your immediate draft grade fo the guys drafted so far.....

My guesses..

Zabel B+
Emmanwori A-
Arroyo C+
Milroe C

Really like the Zabel pick and the Emmanwori selections. A
Arroyo is good but I would rather have had Scourton. B
Milroe is interesting but at the 92nd pick why not take a flyer on Sanders there. Totally shocked he's gone undrafted. C

Overall A- to B plus. While I'm ok with the last 2 picks from day 2 I believe we could have done better.

Zabel: A
The Hawks *NEEDED* to come out of the draft with a rookie who can lock down a spot on the OL. Too many question marks on the OL with too little talent on the team. Normally I wouldn't give an A to a guard this early in the draft, but I know how absolutely crucial it was for the Hawks.

Emmanwori: A
I am almost always against trading up in the draft, but one of the scenarios where it's worth it is if a real talent slips further than expected and it happens to elevate a unit. Safety wasn't necessarily considered a need, but now Safety should be one of our strengths.

Arroyo: D
Sorry, but 2 years lost to injury and only 1 year of production does not add up to a 2nd round pick. There were better, healthier players available at positions of greater need.

Milroe: D
I've always hated drafting gadget players and I still do. We have too many QB, with only 1 being any good (for 1 season as a viking), and this pick doesn't increase the number of viable QBs for us. The Hawks have too many holes to be using premium picks like this.

The first 2 picks prevent this draft from being a bust, but I hate the direction we went after getting Emmanwori. If Schneider doesn't work his late-round magic I don't see this draft making us a playoff team, which is disappointing because 5 picks in the top 100 can do a lot for a team.

A's across the board. Will they all pan out? Not likely but I think John's process is really good which is all you can ask for.

Zabel is a difference maker at a position that was comically bad last year. I trust Macdonald on what he needs for his defense more than guys on a message board(including me) and they traded up a ton to get him. He must see him as a critical piece to his defense. TE was always going to be a priority because of what Kubiak likes to do. I think his value was massive where they took him. Milroe is a long shot but it's the perfect late 3rd round dart throw for a guy with unicorn like physical traits.

I like our draft so far, and would give us an overall A. But I’m worried now, because Kiper likes our draft also.

Zabel- A

Emmanwori-A

Arroyo-A. He is a TE, but I expect him to line up all over the place. . Only concern is injuries.

Milroe- B. People complaining about it, I get it. He was very up and down last year. But Alabama was up and down last year as a team. They had lots of talent, but Debore isn’t Saban. And it was a big change in styles.

I believe if he played at CU and Sanders at Bama, Milroe would be a top 10 pick playing the weak Big 12 every week. And Sanders would be thought of a 6 th round pick.

Arroyo: A
Milroe: B-

Horton: B
Ouzts: B

A- overall. Would have been an A+ if they had used that last pick on the Center Wilson. I am NOT mad though about the Milroe pick.

Zabel... solid A... plug and play IOL.

Emmanwori... B+... very interested to see how Mike uses his new "toy"... but, my God, what an athlete!

Arroyo... solid B... not a lot to go on except lifetime evaluators' comments... which are very positive overall.

Milroe... INC... incomplete because of my complete unknown of how Klint plans to use him in the interim... and how much patience/commitment Mike and Klint have to potentially develop him as an NFL QB in the mold of Lamar Jackson. Realistically, grading this pick will take at least two seasons to see what we have.

OL: I Love it X 10, A+

S: Honestly, the steal of the draft so far. A+

TE: I get the issues, but those hands don't miss and he can block, that's what a TE is supposed to do. It's going to be an ugly process but I think he turns out to be the weapon the other TE's never were. A

QB: He is a gadget player but a little fun while watching the Hawks never hurt. B

I give it an A. Came away with a top guard. Possibly the top safety. Top 3 TE and we weren’t getting the top 2. And Milroe may develop into the best player in the draft. Long shot but we took a shot. I think this team really likes Olu and Sundell. Wilson only has one season, they look for experience

Me grading our draft picks would be like a 5 year old marking a PHD paper but here are my thoughts:

Zabel: We had to get one of the top IOL which I think the options were Zabel, Booker, Banks and at a push Jackson (if an elite talent at another position of need dropped to us at 18). Before the draft I thought only Banks would be worth the 18th pick we could trade down to the bottom of the 1st to get Booker or Zabelm, for while Jackson might be available at 50 we would probably need to trade up for him. On Thursday all the above went well before they were predicted at 18 with Banks and Booker gone it was obvious Zabel and Jackson wouldn't last much longer so it made sense to get Zabel at 18.

Emmanwori: with so many needs and the draft class while short on true elite talents had a lot of depth in starting caliber players I am not keen on losing a day 2 pick, having said that most people had a 1st round rating on Emmanwori and we did get good value on the trade so if the front office like him I wont complain.

Arroyo: Very high upside with potential to be a real steel however if the issue with his knees returns he could be a total bust. I have not seen his medical records so have no idea of the risk of that happening.

Milroe: QB picks are always risky but a star QB on a rookie contract really elevates the chances of winning a Lombardi. The last time we selected a QB in the 3rd round most pundits hated the pick thinking Russ would never be a starter but by week 1 he had risen to the top of the depth chart. The same could happen to Milroe though I think it more likely he is back-up this season, he might never start but is worth the risk.

A+ I love this draft. They will not all work out and they never ever do but I think every pick makes a lot of sense for the direction of this team Milroe was a big swing at a massively important position at the end of the third round. People are acting like they used a first rounder. If he can develop its a massive massive win. If not I can see him being used like Taysom Hill and still being a worthwhile pick. How great would it be to have a high TD rate in the end zone rather than pick sixes?
Thats highly valuable to the team regardless if he works out as a QB starter.

Agree with this in principle but I have no objection to Milroe being the holder if Dickson isn't available.

If that's the plan, it would make the pick less interesting as my expectation for him being a legit QBOTF is low. I want to see if he can be a real weapon in sub packages.
